Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter. 

Happy 100 days of School!

Today at school we are celebrating 100 days of school for our Foundation students. Congratulations to them all. They are certainly part of the furniture now at Teesdale Primary school and were proud of the start they’ve made to school. It is hard to believe as we celebrate their 100th day, we have students visiting our ELC and Kindergarten to start supporting our next Foundation students to attend in 2027. The window for Enrolments closed last Friday for 2027 Foundation students, and we will be notifying families as to the outcome of this in the coming weeks.

Middle School Capital Works

This morning I had the startup meeting for some Capital Works that will be taking place in the middle school. These works will involve replacement of roofing, lighting, carpet and ceilings impacted by water damage at school in early 2025. Once this work commences, the four middle school classes will need to be relocated to our specialist spaces in the school during this time. We understand this will involve some change for students, but all the spaces available will be quite comfortable for them to manage through until the end of term. We expect these works to commence within the next fortnight, and be completed at the start of Term 4.  

Ballsports

As part of our School-Wide Positive Behaviour supports we have reviewed our expectations for how ballsports are played at school, particularly football and soccer. We have seen the need for students to be supported of the really clear setting of expectations related to how we play safely and fairly and establish some local rules so they can focus on playing at break times safely. The expectations of ballsports at school do align with the general expectation at school that we aren’t hands on. We see when students engage in tackling, grabbing and pushing as part of games this leads to escalated emotions and potentially students getting hurt, which we don’t want. I have included an image of these expectations which align with our school values. I would encourage families to reiterate these at home.  

School Review time!

Last fortnight I shared in the newsletter that every four years schools complete a School Review. A School Review provides the opportunity to ensure a school is meeting it's legislative and compliance requirements, as well as  undertake a review of school performance to inform the directions of the school’s next 4 year plan.

To assist with our school review we would invite as many families as possible to provide some feedback on what they identify as the school’s strengths, and opportunities we can strengthen in the coming years. I would also extend the opportunity for families to partake in the school review process via the opportunity to chat with the review panel on the afternoon of Tuesday August 18th at 2:45pm. The questions asked will be similar to those in the feedback link below. If you would like to attend the parent forum please email the school email address at teesdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au to indicate your interest.
