Book Week

Book Week is fast approaching and will be celebrated in Week 7 of this term. The 2026 Children's Book Week theme, "Symphony of Stories," celebrates the power of stories to bring people together and reminds us that every book adds its own unique voice to the wonderful world of reading.

The excitement begins during Week 6 with two very special author and illustrator visits: 

On Monday 17th August, students in Year 3–6 will meet renowned Australian author Morris Gleitzman. He will share his journey as a writer, discuss his background and talk about the inspiration behind his many successful books. 

On Tuesday 18 August, students in Prep–Year  2 will enjoy a presentation by talented Australian illustrator Sarah Allen.  She will give our junior students a fascinating insight into the world of illustration and the creative process of bringing stories to life.

All students are invited to bring a book from home to have it signed by our special guests, Morris Gleitzman or Sarah Allen. 

Dress Up & Parade: 

Book Week celebrations will continue in Week 7 with a range of fun literacy activities, culminating in our much-loved Book Week Parade during Friday morning assembly on the 28th August. We encourage all students to start planning a costume inspired by a favourite book character or story. Costumes can be simple and even sports clothing works if you can tie it in with a book. 

We can't wait to celebrate the joy of reading together and see everyone's creative costumes!
