2 - INDIGENOUS LITERACY DAY
Indigenous Literacy Day is proudly produced and presented by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in collaboration with the Sydney Opera House. It’s an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Stories, Cultures, and Languages. Indigenous Literacy Day is held on the first Wednesday of September ‑ this year Wednesday 2 September. We’re sharing the diversity of First Nations languages and cultures with audiences across Australia.
7 - FATHER’S DAY
Father's Day was inaugurated in the United States in the early 20th century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fathers, fathering, and fatherhood.
The first Sunday of September is celebrated as Father's Day in Australia. It is a day to say thanks and show appreciation for fathers and father figures.
10 - R U OK DAY
R U OK? is a national suicide prevention charity and registered public health promotion that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times.
15 - AFL DAY ‘FOOTY COLOURS DAY’
Staff and Students Footy Colours Day - Dress in footy colours, canteen footy day lunch.
15 - WHOLE SCHOOL ‘MARKET DAY’
During Term 3, the Year 6 students have been studying Economics. This unit has focused on developing a greater understanding of their role as consumers and producers in society.
To put some of their learning into action, the Year 6 students will be holding a Year 6 Market Day.

17 - AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP DAY
Citizenship Day was introduced in 2001. It is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate and value Australian citizenship, the peaceful, prosperous and inclusive society we share, and to reflect on our role in building our nation and shaping our country's future as proud Australian citizens.
21 - INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. The 2025 Global Peace Day Theme is Act Now for a Peaceful World.
25/26 - AFL GRANDFINAL ‘PUBLIC HOLIDAY’ (Friday)
The AFL Grand Final is the championship match of the Australian Football League (AFL) season that decides the premier team in Australian rules football.
28 - DURGA PUJA
Durga Puja, a major Hindu festival, will be celebrated from September 28th to October 2nd. It commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon king Mahishasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The festival is a vibrant display of devotion, art, and culture, particularly in West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, and Odisha. It is marked with worship rituals, performance arts, gift giving, family visits, feasting and public processions.
