Vision and Values Workshops

In Week 5, on Monday 17 August, students, staff and parents were actively involved in our Vision and Values Workshops. It was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to explore what could best represent Lyndhurst Primary School — who we are, what we stand for and how we want our school to be represented into the future. More than 1,200 pieces of input were collected, including ideas around key themes, colours, imagery, symbols and the unique characteristics of our school and community.

All of this valuable feedback is now being collated and analysed to identify the common themes, ideas and visual elements that emerged across students, staff and families. This work will help inform the next stage of our Brand Management process, ensuring our refreshed school identity authentically reflects our new Vision and Values and, importantly, has been shaped by the voices of our community. We look forward to sharing the emerging concepts and bringing our new school identity to life!

Routines - ‘The Why’ & their importance

At LPS, we know that children thrive when home and school work together. One of the simplest and most powerful ways we can support our students is through clear, consistent and predictable routines. When children know what to expect—both at home and at school—they feel more secure, confident and ready to learn.

At school, predictable routines create calm and purposeful learning environments. They reduce uncertainty, support positive behaviour and independence, and allow students to focus their energy on learning. Across LPS, simple whole-school routines such as:

• starting the day with a Welcome Circle
• moving calmly and purposefully between lessons
• lining up consistently
• responding to a common call to attention

help create shared expectations for students, regardless of the classroom, teacher or learning space.

Families play an equally important role. Regular routines around mornings, arriving at school on time, homework or reading, preparing for the next day and bedtime help children develop organisation, responsibility and positive habits.

When the routines and expectations of home and school reinforce one another, children experience greater consistency and stability. Together, families and LPS can create the conditions that help every child feel safe, connected, ready to learn and confident to succeed.
