Helping Every Child Start the Day Well
Every child thrives when they begin the school day feeling calm, settled and ready to learn. One of the best ways we can support this is by establishing a positive morning routine together.
Our classroom doors open at 8:30am, giving children time to settle into their learning environment before the school day officially begins. During this time, children independently unpack their school bag, organise their workspace, greet their classmates and teachers, and prepare for the day ahead. These simple routines help children develop independence, confidence and a sense of belonging.
At 8:45am, each class begins with prayer and Circle Time. This is a special part of our morning that allows children to connect with one another, reflect, and transition into the school day. While prayer nurtures our Catholic faith and helps children grow in their understanding of Scripture, it also provides a peaceful moment to slow down, regulate emotions and leave behind any worries or busyness from the morning. Circle Time further strengthens our classroom community, helping every child feel seen, valued and connected.
Lessons begin promptly at 9:00am, with Specialist classes commencing from 9:05am. Arriving before 8:45am gives your child the opportunity to participate fully in these important routines and begin their learning feeling calm, prepared and confident.
We understand that mornings can sometimes be challenging, and there will always be days when arriving early isn't possible. We greatly appreciate your support in aiming for an arrival between 8:30am and 8:45am whenever you can. Those extra few minutes make a meaningful difference to your child's sense of belonging, wellbeing and readiness to learn.
Thank you for partnering with us to give every child the best possible start to each school day.
Bully No Way: National Week of Action 17th - 21st August
Next week, our school will be taking part in the Bullying No Way: National Week of Action, which encourages students to stand up for kindness, inclusion and respectful relationships. Throughout the week, students will participate in activities and discussions that explore what it means to be a good friend, how to respond when someone is being treated unfairly, and the important role we all play in creating a safe and welcoming school community.
As part of the week, our students will also participate in Australia’s biggest online safety lesson, delivered by the eSafety Commissioner. This will give students the opportunity to develop practical skills for staying safe and respectful online, including learning how to recognise and respond to cyberbullying.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by talking with your child about kindness, respectful behaviour and what they can do if something online makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Together, we can help make sure every child feels safe, included and supported, both online and offline.
