Positive Behaviour for Learning

Every child has the right to learn and every teacher has the right to teach.

        Lesson Plan:

Step 1: List Learning Intentions and Success Criteria

We are learning to :

  • define these behaviours - late (tardy), inappropriate language and dress code violation
  • Explain what these things look like

It will look like:

  • Explaining what late (tardy), inappropriate language and dress code violation mean
  • identifying examples of each behaviour
  • explaining how these behaviours affect safety, respect and learning.

Step 2:  List a rationale for teaching the behaviour

Why is it important?

Holy Rosary School Values: Relationships, Respect, Resilience, Integrity, Kindness.

Holy Rosary School Expectations: Safety is our right. Learning is our responsibility. Respect is our way.

Step 3:  Identify examples and non-examples of the desired behaviour

What would the behaviour look/sound like?

Examples

Go to the toilet in a timely manner

Doing a job and returning straight to class

Using kind words

Using words that are appropriate for the people you are speaking with (teachers, adults, peers)

Wearing the correct seasons uniform (Summer/Winter uniform)

Wearing accessories in the correct colours (navy blue, white etc)

What would the behaviour not look/sound like?

Non-examples
