May you be strong in courage and confidence.

May you be wise in choices and decisions.

May you be caring of all relationships and compassionate to those in need.

May you meet life’s adventure with a clear mind and a bold heart.

May your integrity be a gift to the world, may the Spirit of God be with you always.

Next Thursday many of our Year 5 and 6 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is the third Sacrament of Initiation and is the sacrament in which those who have been baptised continue their faith journey by receiving the Holy Spirit. Through this sacrament, they are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit to bear witness to Christ in their lives. The celebration will be led by Father James Puppady and Father Leo.

The students have been preparing for Confirmation in their Religious Education classes. They have learned about the signs and symbols associated with this sacrament, developed an understanding of “spirit,” and explored the gifts, fruits and symbols of the Holy Spirit. Students were also invited to choose a Saint name and reflect on why they selected that particular saint.

Last Friday, the students participated in a Reflection Day as part of their preparation for Confirmation. The day included reflecting on the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the life of Mary MacKillop with Sr Rita at the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre. They also visited St Patrick's Cathedral and participated in a “Spirit Walk” through Fitzroy Gardens.

It was a big day, with students walking close to 10 kilometres! Sister Rita was very impressed by the students’ reverence, knowledge and behaviour, and we were incredibly proud of them.

Special thanks to Mr Josh and Miss Ritoli for preparing their students so well for this sacrament, and to Miss Antonella and Frank Cera for assisting on the excursion and helping keep everyone safe while crossing some very busy roads.

LOVE SERVES.
