Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.
Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation
On Sunday 18 October, our school and parish community joyfully celebrated the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Congratulations to James Sibio, Kodinna Raymond and Boston Ferrari, who received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and to Daniel Sibio, who celebrated his First Eucharist.
We congratulate all the candidates on these important milestones in their faith journeys and thank their families for sharing these special occasions with our school and parish community. May their faith continue to grow and flourish.
Socktober
During the month of October, classes have been talking about Catholic Missions and Socktober. Teachers have used this event as a way to educate our students on the needs of others and how not everyone gets to go to a shop to buy sports equipment for example. The Social Justice Team and the Grade 1s used donated socks, t shirts and plastic bags to create two sockballs. They then took them outside and tested them. The sockballs were surprisingly hardy!
During October, our classes have been learning about Catholic Missions and Socktober. This event provides a wonderful opportunity to educate students about social justice, the needs of others, and the fact that not everyone has access to shops where they can buy sporting equipment.
As part of this learning, the Social Justice Team and our Grade 1 students worked together to create two sockballs using donated socks, T-shirts and plastic bags. Once the sockballs were made, they headed outside to put them to the test! The students and teachers were delighted to discover just how hardy the sockballs were.

The Eye of the Beholder - Along the Track article
The latest edition of Along the Track entitled “The Eye of the Beholder” is attached below. A beautiful ornamental tree graces our front garden. I often told its previous owner how much I admired it; he was a neighbour who lived a couple of streets away. He hated it. Over the years, it had been mutilated, abused and made unwelcome. One day, he dug it up and dumped it in our garden. A good day for him and a good day for us! We welcomed it, planted it, cared for it, watered it, fed it and watched it grow. It took a while, but it is now a thing of rare beauty. People stop to admire it, comment on it, and to photograph it.
