Flinders Year 6 camp
I felt very fortunate to take the Year 6 students on a week-long trip to the Flinders Ranges in the final week of last term. We were pleased to actually make it there, after a couple of weeks of the 'flu sweeping through the class. The adults agreed that one small silver lining of the kids still being in recovery mode was that they were so tired they slept soundly through the night — and so did we!
It was a beautiful time to visit the Flinders, with wildflowers in bloom and lovely spring weather. School camp is such a valuable experience for students, giving them the chance to experience new places and things, and build resilience, independence and teamwork, all while creating lasting memories with their classmates.
We would like to sincerely thank Corinne Pepper for attending in her own time, along with our parent volunteers Chris Kiessling, Megan Tucker and Seb Geers. Camp is a huge undertaking, and we truly could not have done it without your support. Thank you also to the students, who approached the week with such positivity and were a pleasure to spend time with.
We are already looking forward to next year, when all students in Years 3–6 will have the opportunity to attend a camp. One lovely way to help children prepare for this experience is by organising sleepovers with family or friends, so they can practise being away from home and build their confidence for this exciting adventure.
Uraidla Show
We're all looking forward to the Uraidla Show next Sunday. Students are all busy getting their artworks ready, practising their choir and band pieces, and preparing entries for the competitive sections at home.
We hope to see all students at the Big Truck for a brief performance before you all enjoy the Show Day together. Just a reminder that Reception to Year 2 classes need to arrive by 9:45am and all others by 10:15am. If you are unable to make it for any reason, please let your child's teacher know in advance.
Performance timetable (roughly!):
• 10:00 – Kindy and Reception Classes
• 10:10 – Year 1 and Year 2 Classes
• 10:20 – Year 2/3 and Year 3/4 Classes
• 10:30 – Choir
• 10:45 – Instrumental Music Band
• 11:00 – Cara’s Percussion Ensemble
• 11:15 – Cara’s Rock Band
This term, our theme is creative (from Fly of Learn Stand Give Fly), and I can't think of a better way to launch this theme than the Show! Keep an eye out for our chooks in their cages! 🐔 See you at the Show. 🎉🎈
