District Basketball

On Wednesday 7th of October Auburn South Grade 5 and 6 students competed in the District Basketball Competition at Bialik College.

First up the Auburn South Boys team played represented by Luke J, Sam, V, Jonah T, Harry G, Felix R, Jackson F, Jackson R and Evan L.  They drew a tough game against Deepdene 15 all. In the second match the Auburn South Boys played Canterbury and beat them 23 to 17. The Third match Auburn South played Bialik and lost 14 -24. The boys team made the Quarter Final finishing in 3rd place overall in the group stage. The boys played Chatham Primary in the Quarter Final and won comfortably 28 – 14 to progress through to the Semi Final where they came up against Bialik. Bialik were too strong in the match and went on to be the eventual winners of the tournament. Congratulations to the boys on a fantastic effort.

Next up it was the Auburn South Girls team represented by Alex W, Maddie G, Evie P, Estelle F, Elizabeth C, Leena C, Frankie G and Bella L. The girls played Canterbury in the first game and lost 18 – 12. The girls tried their hardest in the second game and came up short against Deepdene. They finished the group stage in 6th position. It was a brave effort by the girls who were missing some key players. I would like to congratulate the girls on keeping positive and representing Auburn South in a positive way.

Thank you to Mike Davey once again for coming out to support both basketball teams with me and for giving the boys and girls such constructive game strategies.

Kind regards,

Ravi Parhar
