Secondary School

I trust all families have enjoyed a lovely break from school. It has been a pleasure welcoming the students back to school and helping create time and space for them to connect with each other, learn and grow together. We are so much better off as a community and to work towards common goals and understanding.
This week we held an assembly to honour the ANZACs in preparation for ANZAC Day. Our School Captains gave their reflection on the ANZAC Spirit and values and we also heard stories of both students and staff who had relatives who were war heroes. The ANZAC identity is very special to Australians. It’s not only about their bravery under the most extreme pressure, but also about the values that they stand up for, and the sacrifice they are willing to make to ensure that we live in a country that stands for those values.
Next week, on Friday, we celebrate Foundation Day which is in recognition of the founding of the School, 28 years ago. It is the school’s birthday celebrations and, again, a time to recognise everything we stand for, our values, our traditions, those that helped create, grow and support us, and also our vision for the future. It will be a day of great celebration.
We warmly welcome our parents to the assembly from 1.45pm, and also to watch the Running of the Flags which will take us to the end of the day.
A note also for our families that in Week Three on Wednesday we celebrate Mokare Day and it is a dress up theme for the students. I would like to give parents and students as much notice as possible. The dress up theme is “Dress as a decade” which is quite broad and will lend itself to some wonderful get-ups!
