From the Principal

Welcome to Term Two!

A warm welcome to all as we commence another term with a focus on growth, upholding high standards and doing what we say - our theme for 2026.

Whole School Perception Survey

As we continue our growth journey as a learning community, a whole school survey is being conducted this term. Staff, parents and students in Years Six to Twelve are invited to complete the survey.

The whole school survey is an important moment to seek feedback and insights into all aspects of school life. Data collected will assist the school in identifying praise points, uncover improvement areas and provide direction for future strategies.

The survey is being conducted by an external third party, MMG, to uphold confidentiality and implement appropriate research protocols.

All families will receive an email from MMG with an invitation to complete the survey via a link.

Foundation Day

The School Foundation Day will take place on 1 May 2026. This is wonderful occasion to honour the past, celebrate the present and shape the future. I encourage all community members to attend Foundation Day celebrations including the assembly commencing at 1.45pm, followed by the Running of the Flags. This year, the introduction of a House singing competition will take place during the assembly.

Foundation Day also serves as our Annual Giving Day. A day where all community members are encouraged to donate to the School Foundation in support of scholarship programs and infrastructure projects. The School Foundation is an incorporated association and operates at arm's length from the school.

The Annual Giving Day in 2026 will support the launch of the School Foundation Griffin Prize. A new scholarship for a new Year Ten student who displays outstanding leadership in civic life who does not have the financial means to attend the school.

I encourage all community members to donate just $20 in support of the Annual Giving Day by opening thislink.

Staff Farewells

This week, the school said farewell to Mrs Toni Woods and Mr Nathan Symonds.

Toni has been a stalwart of the school for over 20 years as a parent and employee in the Finance Team. Toni now moves into the next chapter of life in retirement, spending important time with family and pursuing new interests.

Nathan has been the Director of Sport for 16 years. He has made a significant contribution to the cultural fabric of GSG and led the founding of the Great Southern Griffins. Nathan now moves into the next chapter of life and will shortly commence work in a new industry.

We wish them all the best for the future.

Go well

Mr Mathew Irving | Principal
