Year 5 and 6 Swimming
Year 5 and 6 will continue with their swimming lessons this week on Tuesday, 5th May and Wednesday, 6th May at Bluewater. If any parents can walk with the classes can they please contact the school. The timetable is as follows:
Tuesday 5th May

Wednesday 6th May
Year 5 and 6 swimming lessons from 11.30 am - 2.30 pm. The swimming lesson on Wednesday requires students to be there 30 minutes earlier because they need to learn their safety skills (which takes 30 minutes). The safety lesson will be on land for the first 30 minutes and then they will have their swimming lesson for the second 30 minutes.

Cross Country
All classes have competed in a class Cross Country in the sports class. The overall top 6 students from Years 4 – 6 will have the opportunity to compete at the Colac Division Cross Country event this Thursday 7th May at the Colac Golf Club. These students have be chosen by the top 6 best times from the following age groups – Year 9/10 Boys and Girls, Year 11 Boys and Girls. Year 12/13 Boys and Girls. The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 10:50 am and return at 1:45 pm. Students will need to wear their sports uniform and bring along their snacks, lunch and drink bottle to the event. Please watch the weather, students may need their coats.
We do need parent helpers on the day, so if you can assist can you please indicate on PAM.

Change of Greater Western Cross Country date
Due to a booking issue, the date of the Greater Western Region Cross Country event
has been moved from Wednesday the 27th of May to Tuesday the 26th of May.

- What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball and netball.
- What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.
- What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite positions in netball are Goal Defence (GD) and Centre (C) because I love to run around.
- What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was intercepting the ball in a very close game.
- What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my defending skills in both netball and basketball.
- Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting teams are the Vixens netball team and the Richmond football team.
- If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose Cathy Freeman because she was a fantastic runner for Australia.
- What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is taping my ankle.
- How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would say that I am a very determined player who always tries her best and wants to win.
- What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who shows respect by shaking hands at the end of a game and thanking

- What sports do you play? The sports I play are football and basketball.
- What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.
- What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is Centre Half Forward because I get to run around a lot, and it’s a really fun position.
- What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was kicking my first goal in football.
- What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my kicking skills in football. My kicks are getting longer, and I can direct them better to my teammates. I am also getting better at kicking goals.
- Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is St Kilda Football Club (the Saints).
- If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose St Kilda footballer Jack Higgins.
- What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is listening to music.
- How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would say that I am a very good kicker and a determined, competitive player.
- What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who displays good sportsmanship.

- What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.
- What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is the middle because I like chasing the ball.
- What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I received my first award in football.
- What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my kicking skills. I am more accurate, and I can kick the ball much straighter.
- Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Sydney Swans.
- If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose footballer Harley Reid. He is a very good player.

- What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball and soccer.
- What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is soccer.
- What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in soccer is midfield because you can run anywhere on the field.
- What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when, as a team, we scored 52 goals in one game. It was a home game.
- What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most in soccer is my ball control and tricks. I am working on making it harder for my opponents to predict what I will do with the ball.
- Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is Real Madrid.
- If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose Lionel Messi because he is my favourite soccer player and a champion.
- What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is wearing two odd socks.
- How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would say that I love to have fun when I play soccer, and that my skills are improving all the time, making me an exciting player to watch.
- What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who works well with their teammates, shares the ball, and does not play selfishly.
