School Council meeting 22nd June 2026
The MPWPS school council met on 22nd June 2026.
Prior to the meeting, Jarrod Sutton presented the 2025 Annual report to members of the school community.
Anika and Jack from Junior School Council presented an update to School Council including:
- Ideas for reducing rubbish and mess in the yard such as reminding students about nude food and taking their rubbish with them
- Ideas for reducing the rubbish occurring in bathrooms
- Plants being damaged
- Replacement of nets and rings in the yard
- Ideas for winter solstice PJ day funds raised - where shall we send the donations?
- Grade 5 & 6 clubs
- Additional monkey bars that can be used by foundation students
- Changing the transition music more regularly.
Jarrod presented on the principal’s report and provided an update on the following:
- Term 3 we will be having three-way conferences in Week 3. Meetings will be 15 minutes for older students (3-6) and 20 minutes for younger students (P-2). They will run over two nights, Tuesday and Thursday. Meetings will start earlier in the day for P-2 on one day and 3-6 on the other, so that supervision for students occurs, while allowing enough time for families to meet with teachers. Bookings will occur on Compass in Week 1 of next term.
- Curriculum Day on Friday 31st July, which is also Week 3 of next term.
- 2027 enrollment tours have been popular with over 65 families touring MPW. Next term we will be sending out offers to families within our school zone, before we look to the enrollments for those out of our zone.
- Last week, Jarrod and Sandra met with the Minimum Compliance Auditor which leads on to our School Review in Term 4. This occurs for schools every 4 years and covers all policies and processes that we need to have in place as a school. It was a positive meeting with minimal feedback on what we need to update before Term 4.
Jason presented an update from the Resources sub-committee
- Our next major fundraising event will be the Trivia night on 8th August.
- Funding has been approved to fix the dampness and roof works in the Library and Hall building.
- Restoration of the Tiger Turf near the Jacaranda tree is still underway. The roots have been fixed and the turf is ready to be fixed.
- Mulch in the big adventure will be refreshed over the school holidays.
Anna provided an update from the Education Committee
- The sub-committee have reviewed and given feedback on the following policies:
- MPW Aboriginal Action Plan
- MPW Child Abuse Policy
- MPW Bullying Prevention Policy
- MPW Visitor Policy
- MPW Volunteer Policy
These policies have since been updated and will be available shortly on our school website.
