Principal's Report

Dear families and friends of MPW

We had a comfy and warm Pyjama Day yesterday to acknowledge the Winter Solstice. It was a nice way to end the term with some fun. JSC were able to raise some money in support of the homeless, and the impact cold nights can have on those less fortunate than us.

As we draw to the end of the term, I hope you have a safe and restful school holiday period. A reminder we return on 13th July for Term 3.

World Cup Match on Friday

There has been a lot of buzz about the World Cup at the moment, and with Australia playing again on Friday, we thought we might have a bit more fun on the last day by letting students, should they want to, wear a top that shows support for Australia/Socceroos, their favourite soccer team or their own country of choice. We have had multiple requests from students to be able to watch the Socceroos play on Friday, as it will be live at 12pm. I am trying to organise a general viewing for those who would like to watch on the last day to cheer on the Socceroos. The goal will be to have a ‘watch party’ in the gym at 12pm for students wanting to watch it (and some of the teachers too!).

MVIMP Soiree

The MVIMP Soiree is on tomorrow night at 6:30pm in the gym. This gives our MVIMP students a chance to perform to their families and celebrate their learning for their instrumental ensembles and for the school band to perform.  If you are interested in seeing the concert, you are welcome to join us to support our students.

3-Way Conferences

We will be holding Three-Way Conferences early in Term 3 in week 3 (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons). There will be an earlier start for our F-2 students on the Tuesday afternoon, and then for our 3-6 students on the Thursday afternoon.

This year we will be providing the usual 15-minute blocks for our 3-6 students, but will be trying 20-minute blocks for our F-2 students. This is to give the younger students a little bit more time to talk about their learning and also provide time for parents as well.

You will be able to book for your child’s conference through Compass in the first weeks of the new term once the schedule is setup on Compass. A notification will be sent when these are open.

Parent Voluntary Contributions

and Donations Reminder

Parent/carer contributions continue to provide an important and critical source of funding which enables us to supply resources necessary to maximise successful delivery of our learning programs. While all school contributions are voluntary, we appreciate payment if you are able. Payments can be made via Compass or the school office.

As the end of the financial year approaches, families may wish to note that certain donations to the school (to the library and building funds) are tax deductible. Every donation to these funds assists our school to provide resources to support our students. If you would like more information, please contact the general office.

Curriculum Day- Friday 31st July

Our Term 3 student free day is scheduled for Friday 31st July.  We will be working with staff on some professional learning, and beginning some reflections for our School Review that is scheduled for Term 4.  Camp Australia will be available on the day should you need their services.

Last day of Term Reminders

  • Assembly at 9:05am in the gym.
  • Dismissal time at 2:30pm.
  • Students can wear a top to support their favourite soccer team, this can be to support the Socceroos or another country. The opportunity for students and staff to watch the soccer at 12pm (if we can get it to work).

Have a great break.

Regards,

Jarrod Sutton
