Principal Update

Womin Djeka – Hello and welcome to another edition of the ‘THE WESTERN PORT WORD’ which will continue to provide our community with a range of updates throughout the year. 

As we come to the end of another outstanding term, I want to take a moment to thank our entire school community for your ongoing commitment, support and partnership. Term 2 has been an incredibly positive and rewarding, with so much to celebrate.

One of the highlights has been the significant interest from other schools wanting to learn from the work taking place at our school. Throughout the term, we have welcomed numerous school leadership teams who have visited to observe our systems, practices and processes, exploring how they may be able to replicate elements within their own contexts. It has also been a privilege to host schools from New Zealand on two separate occasions, coordinated through the New Zealand Ministry of Education, to showcase the innovative work happening across our school.

This was further reinforced during our School Review on 15 June. The review panel provided a highly positive endorsement of the work underway, encouraging us to continue our current direction while also expanding the depth and breadth of our impact. This is an achievement that belongs to every member of our community. Together, we have built something truly special, and there is so much for us all to be proud of.

To our Year 12 students, as you prepare to enter your final term of Unit 4 coursework before the external examinations and assessment tasks, I encourage you to maintain a healthy balance of study and rest over the break will ensure you return refreshed and ready for the important weeks ahead. Next term marks another significant milestone and the exciting opportunities that await beyond school. We are immensely proud of your commitment and are with you all the way.

I hope all members of our school community enjoy a safe, restful and well-deserved holiday break. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday 14 July, following our Curriculum Day on Monday 13 July.
