Little Dove Cafe

Hi Kids and Families,
The shorter, darker winter days are already behind us, and we’re now heading towards the warmer seasons ahead - hopefully!
I would like to thank all the parents who helped and joined us for our Aboriginal Day last Thursday. It was a wonderful experience, and I was delighted to see so many children willing to try the special foods and enjoy learning about something new.
We will soon begin creating an Aboriginal garden beneath the beautiful gum tree near the playground. We hope this will become a special gathering place where we can share stories, learn about culture, safely enjoy a fire, and perhaps even roast some delicious food together.
The mutton birds were especially popular, and it was an honour to prepare these traditional and tasty dishes. We always remember that the land on which we live, learn and play has been cared for by Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years. Their connection to Country, culture and community represents the oldest continuing living culture in the world.
I have greatly enjoyed learning more about Aboriginal culture and history. The more I discover, the more fascinating it becomes. I have even started learning to play the yidaki (didgeridoo), which I find it to be a wonderful way to connect with nature and reflect on the spirit and history of this ancient land.
I am now on my way home to Italy, where I hope to gather new inspiration and ideas from my family's food and cooking traditions to bring back and share with you all.
In the meantime, I wish you and your families all the very best, and I look forward to seeing you again in September.
Bridget and Lucia will continue preparing delicious meals and keeping everyone happy while I am away.
