Winter Appeal - Thank You and Winter Warmer Day Reminder

Thank you to the members of our school community who have supported our Clothing Drive this term. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference to children and families experiencing hardship during the colder months.

The Junior School Council (JSC) organised the drive in support of Big Group Hug in Thomastown, a charity dedicated to assisting vulnerable children and families with essential items. Every child deserves to feel warm, safe and comfortable during winter, and your donations will help provide much-needed support to those in our community who need it most.

As part of our Winter Appeal, we would also like to remind families that our Winter Warmer Day will be held on Monday 22 June. This special day aims to raise awareness and funds for families doing it tough this winter while encouraging our students to reflect on the importance of gratitude, empathy and community spirit.

Students are invited to come to school dressed in their favourite:

🧣 Winter woollies🧥 Warm jackets and beanies🩵 Cosy pyjamas

The JSC students will be collecting gold coin donations, with all proceeds going towards supporting families in need.

Throughout the day, students will participate in an outdoor gratitude lesson, providing an opportunity to reflect on the warmth, comfort and everyday necessities that many of us are fortunate to enjoy. These experiences help foster empathy, gratitude and a deeper understanding of how we can support others within our community.

Thank you to Lisa Yates and the JSC team for their leadership in organising these meaningful initiatives. We are proud of the compassion shown by our students and grateful for the ongoing support of our families as we work together to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Final Assembly for Term 2 - Next Friday

Our final assembly for the term will be held next Friday at 1:30 pm and promises to be a wonderful celebration of student talent and achievement.

Families are warmly invited to join us as we reflect on another successful term and enjoy a range of outstanding performances from our student groups. This special assembly will feature performances by the VSSS Dance Group, Senior Vocal Ensemble, Rock Band and Junior School Choir, showcasing the creativity, dedication and hard work of our students.

The assembly will conclude in time for a 2:30 pm finish, marking the end of the term and the beginning of a well-deserved break for all.

Welcome to Our New Music Teacher

We are pleased to announce that Nathaniel Caddy has been appointed as our Music Teacher for Semester 2.

Nathaniel brings valuable experience in teaching Music within a primary school setting, along with a strong commitment to providing engaging and enriching musical learning opportunities for all students.

As part of a smooth transition and handover process, Ms S has been working closely with Nathaniel to plan for Term 3 and will continue to support him during the first few weeks of next term as she commences family leave. This transition period will provide an opportunity for Nathaniel to become familiar with our Music program, students and school community, while ensuring continuity of learning for our students.

Please join us in welcoming Nathaniel to our school community.

Semester Reports and Parent-Teacher Interviews

Semester Reports will be released via Compass on Thursday 25 June. Families will be able to access their child's report online and review their achievement and progress across Semester One.

You may notice that reports look a little different this semester. As part of the industrial action undertaken by teachers this term, the usual written report comments have not been included. Reports will still provide valuable information about your child's achievement against the Victorian Curriculum, based on a range of assessment evidence collected throughout the semester.

On the same day, Parent-Teacher Interview bookings will open on Compass.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 23 July and provide an opportunity for families and teachers to discuss student progress, celebrate achievements, and identify next steps for learning.

Families of students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) are asked not to book a Parent/Carer-Teacher Interview, as their child's IEP meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss progress, goals, and support strategies in greater detail.

If you have any questions regarding your child's report, please contact their classroom teacher.
