Mylor Camp

In week one 93 students from years two to five attended the Mylor Camp from the 15th October until 17th October. Students travelled by bus and stayed for a total of two nights.

The camp gave students the opportunity to develop responsibility and ownership for many aspects during the time. They were responsible for the upkeep of their dorm rooms and bathrooms as well as making sure all spaces used during camp were kept tidy and clean including using the industrial kitchen to clean all dishes after meals.

Students participated in a number of activities that developed team work and resilience and at times put students out of their comfort zone. Activities included the Challenge Course where kids climbed through mud and slid down a huge slip and slide, the flying fox and the giant swing which took kids ten metres above the ground. Students also had to work together in problem solving tasks, raft building and bridge building. Kids were even exposed to archery during their time away.

On the Thursday the R/1 students came and participated in a range of activities from cubby building, the nature scavenger hunts, bouldering and GaGa ball. It was great to have over 150 students at the camp on the one day.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all our parent helpers who made this camp possible. Thank you to Carla Koay, Mignon Johansen, Anna Price, Beau Griffiths, Tory West, Joel Pillar Rogers, Claudia Grosset Smith and Brianna Cornish. A big thank you also to all the parent helpers for the R/1 Mylor trip, it made it a fantastic day for all students.

Thank you to all staff who attended the camp giving up their nights to give students this amazing opportunity.
