Round the classes

Indonesian - Ibu Susan:
In Indonesian this term all classes are basing their learning on the story Komodo Lapar (Komodo is Hungry). This text will be used for a variety of different tasks across the year levels. We will also be revising key words from throughout the year.
The year 5/6 class is looking at the ancient Hindu story, The Ramayana. They have begun making wayang kulit shadow puppets based on the characters from this epic tale.
Our teddies for this term are Pak Badak (Mr Rhino) and Wayan (Wayan the dog).
Art - Mrs Tume:
All classes have been busy working on the project Wild at Art, from the Australian Conservation Foundation, placing a focus on vulnerable or endangered Australian species. Students have used learner agency to choose their species and how they would like to present their species on an A3 piece of paper. The artworks could be an abstract or realistic representation, considering the visual art elements and using their own choice of materials such as drawing, painting, oil pastels, pens etc. All pieces will be displayed at the Uraidla Show on Sunday 2nd of November.
Science - Jess:
What a wonderful way to finish Term 3! The older students did a fantastic job showcasing their Animal Adaptation Projects. It was great to see them confidently presenting their research and sharing the incredible 3D models of their animals' environments with the younger students. A big well done to everyone for their hard work and creativity!
In the final weeks of term, our Junior Primary classes noticed the area around the water tank needed some care. This turned into a hands-on gardening project, where students enjoyed digging up old paths, planting new greenery, and spreading mulch to help our garden thrive. This tied in perfectly with our learning focus on what plants need to survive: sunlight, water, air, and care. We’ll be continuing this learning into Term 4, so if you have any unwanted gardening tools, plants, or materials at home, we’d love any donations to help keep our garden growing!
Looking ahead, our focus for Term 4 is Earth and Space. It promises to be another exciting, hands-on term full of exploring, experimenting, and plenty of curiosity. We can’t wait to see where our learning takes us!
Thank you for your continued support.
PE - Troy:
After an interrupted week with camp students are back being active and ready for new challenges in term 4. The Year 5/6 class is finishing playing volleyball with the emphasis on students playing and coordinating their own games. In the coming weeks they will play a tournament against each other to finish off the term.
All other classes have been engaged playing basketball. Their lessons are based off the Aussie Hoops program which develops skills in a fun, engaging way. Students have been practicing bouncing, passing and shooting skills.
For the rest of the term students will get an opportunity to play tee ball and tennis for the remainder of the year once the weather becomes a bit kinder.
Gardening - Jo:
You may have noticed there are two new garden beds in near the gym.
These are part of the seed BioR raising project for growing endemic native plants seeds.
BioR is a South Australian grassroots charity that reconstructs habitats to support native wildlife.
The garden beds have been provided and set up by BioR. All we need to do is collect the seed and send it off to BioR and in doing so we are helping to preserve our native wildlife.
Gardening groups will observe and care for these plants and harvest seeds when they are ready and deeper learning will be incorporated in gardening lessons in the future.
To finish the term off the students in Emma's class harvested potatoes and then we had a cook up!
Potatoes were washed, peeled, cut and baked, after a dowsing of olive oil and salt and pepper. Once cooked the chips were consumed with glee and plenty of blowing to cool them down!
