Family Prayer Bag

Next week the St Margaret Mary’s Family Prayer Bag will be launched. There is one per year level and each week a different family will take home the Family Prayer Bag. The idea is that you set a prayer space and say a prayer together as a family. There is a journal entry page to write a reflection, a prayer or even include a photo of your family praying together.

For Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2, your Family Prayer Bag includes a Prayer Bear. Make sure you include the Prayer Bear in your photo. For Years 5 and 6, you have a set of 'Unplugged’ cards in your Family Prayer Bag. I encourage you to use these conversation starters, together as a family over a weekday or weekend meal. It’s a lot of fun and you will be surprised what you learn about each other!

Each Family Prayer Bag has an introductory letter explaining the concept of the Family Prayer Bag in more detail. I hope you find this family initiative an uplifting experience.

Sydney Vinnies Breaky Van

On Sunday 11th February 2024, we serviced our first Sydney Vinnies Brekky Van for 2024. It was a trifecta of a morning. We were short a few volunteers (we could manage that), then the truck wouldn’t (and didn’t start), then when we finally arrived at Prince Alfred Park in the Vinnies Van, I realised I had forgotten the milk! Alas, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we made it through a successful morning serving 70 men and 15 women a cooked breakfast. Thank you to all the volunteers. It truly is a rewarding experience. Ask Kerryn, Matilda’s Mum (Year 1), as she has done a few now. I am sure she will attest to the practical and purposeful work that we do and the humbling experience it is. If you want to become involved, please email me direct at lucille.gravina@syd.catholic.edu.au
