Opening School Mass, Pancake Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Firstly, I would like to thank Fr Pat for leading us in our Opening School Mass and Ash Wednesday Liturgy. Congratulations must go to Year 6, our school leaders, who showed great responsibility, reverence and leadership through reading, setting the prayer space and the offertory. Congratulations must also go to our students who were voted to be SRC for Semester One. Thank you to the parents and families who attended - it was lovely to see you all join us at these school major events.

Project Compassion - Term 1 Fundraiser

Project Compassion not only helps people overseas but people in Australia too! Tereesa is a Gamilaroi woman from Western Sydney who struggled with homelessness while raising her four children. Seeking a better future for her children, Tereesa joined Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation’s Young Mums and Bubs Group, supported by Caritas Australia. Baabayn helped Tereesa access housing for her family and psychological support.

Already an aspiring artist, Tereesa was able to flourish at Baabayn as she learnt Indigenous artwork and symbols. With the support of Baabayn, Tereesa’s art was displayed and sold at local markets and she is now working to start her own art business. Tereesa’s artwork was recognised at the 2022 Vivid Festival in Sydney.

This term, STMM is asking families to donate any loose change and coins to Project Compassion to support people like Tereesa. If you would like to know more about what Project Compassion does, please visit their website.

Family Mass - 2nd March

You and your family are invited to join us for our Term 1 Family Mass on Saturday the 2nd March at 5:30pm. There will be a light supper after Mass in the undercroft so please bring a plate to share. I look forward to seeing you all there!

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

During this season of Lent, guide us on the path of reflection and repentance. Help us to turn away from distractions and focus our hearts on You.

Grant us the strength to embrace humility, to seek forgiveness, and to extend compassion to others.

Fill us with Your grace, O Lord, that we may grow in faith, hope, and love. May our Lenten journey deepen our relationship with You and with one another.

As we journey together through these forty days, may we be mindful of those in need, reaching out with kindness and generosity to lift up the marginalised and the oppressed.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
