Congratulations to Ash Summer and Zavier Suluvale-Liumaunu, who participated in the North Queensland Cowboys Greenhorns Muster trial match in Townsville at the start of the school holidays. This experience gave the boys exposure to the Cowboys' elite development pathway. Our First XIII coach, Mr O'Farrell, also attended the trial as part of the coaching staff. Well done to all involved in this exciting opportunity.
Heavey House Captain Matthew Belcher and Year 11 student Evan Ung proudly represented our region at the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships in Coolangatta at the end of March. Competing against elite pairings from every Australian state and territory, both boys recorded strong wins across multiple matches.
Matthew secured victories over teams from Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, while Evan’s pairing triumphed over opponents from the ACT, the NT, Victoria and NSW. While they did not finish on the podium, both students gained valuable experience, improved their skills and benchmarked themselves against the best in the country.
Well done, Matthew and Evan, on representing our region on the national stage.
