GSSC African SCLO Soccer Program Kicks Off with Energy and Community Support

Last week marked the second session of the GSSC African SCLO Soccer Program, out of the 10-week session for African Leadership Soccer Program. The session has welcomed 26 enthusiastic students who came ready to learn, play, and grow together. The program, led by Sifa Mireye-Karakoc and Nancy Diara Kabala, from GSSC as well as community mentors Elizabethe Awan and Erike Njiginya, this takes place every Friday after school. It aims to develop leadership skills, teamwork, confidence, and cultural pride through the game of soccer. We were especially honoured to welcome a special guest from AAFRO, who generously supported our initiative. AAFRO donated nearly 10 soccer balls and two pairs of soccer boots to the club. Their kindness and commitment to youth development have given our students the resources they need to fully participate and thrive in the program. Students shared very positive feedback about the sessions, expressing excitement for the weeks ahead. One of the highlights was seeing everyone proudly wearing our special African soccer jerseys, beautifully designed by one of our participating students. The jerseys represent unity, creativity, and the strong sense of identity that this program celebrates. The energy, teamwork, and smiles on the field made it clear that this program is already making a meaningful impact. We look forward to many more inspiring Fridays ahead!

Stay tuned for more updates as the GSSC African SCLO Soccer Program continues to grow and empower our students.
