UYSC Transition Visit

Our 5/6 students had an amazing time visiting Upper Yarra Secondary College on Wednesday. They embraced the experience with enthusiasm and had so much fun exploring the school and taking part in the activities. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to build confidence and get a taste of what secondary school life is like.

Here are some of the students’ reflections and thoughts from the day:

On Wednesday we went to Upper Yarra High School and it was better than school. We went inside for the first time, and we first went to the basketball court and played games like Rat and Rabbits, a game similar to octopus, and more. We went outside and sat on a bench table, then a nice teacher came to us and we got to choose hot dogs or a salad roll. I had to choose the hot dogs because I had not eaten them in a long time—like weeks. After eating, we went inside for cooking class. We had to put icing on the cookies. The cookies were a gingerbread man, a Christmas bulb and a house. When I put the bulb in, it got flipped over and the black went over the house :( I took it home. After that, it was time to go back to school.

On Wednesday the 18th, the 5/6s went to UYSC. I had so much fun! In PE, we played games like basketball, Rob the Nest (where we used a basketball timer), Rats and Rabbits, and more.

We didn’t bring any recess because the high school provided us with hot dogs or a salad roll. Of course, I chose the hot dogs!

In cooking, we iced baked cookies. I liked it, but they got a bit mushy in the bag. I still liked it!

The high school was awesome!
