Beginning the Year in Peace

As we continue our journey through Lent, we are reminded that this is a time for reflection, prayer, and thinking about how we can care for others in our community and beyond. Throughout the coming weeks, students will continue learning about ways they can show kindness, generosity, and compassion in their everyday lives. Lent encourages us to pause and consider how small actions can make a meaningful difference to others.

Last week we gathered together as a school community for our Beginning of Year Mass with Fr Andrew. Our Catholic Education theme for the year, Peace Be With You All, was a beautiful focus for the celebration and a reminder of the importance of bringing peace, kindness, and understanding to those around us.

A special thank you to the students of Mrs Tomkin's Year 6 class, who did an excellent job leading the Mass. They showed great confidence in their roles and helped create a meaningful celebration for everyone present.

It was wonderful to see families and members of our community attend. Coming together in prayer was a beautiful way to begin the school year as a whole community.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day will be celebrated at Sacred Heart on Thursday 19th March. This day promotes cultural diversity, inclusiveness and respect. It encourages people to embrace differences, celebrate multiculturalism and recognise the value of unity. The day is marked by various community events, performances and educational activities that aim to reduce racial prejudice and foster social harmony.

Our school will celebrate the day with a whole-school assembly presented by Miss Callahan’s Year 5 class at 9:00am, and everyone is welcome to attend. At 11:30am, students will participate in buddy class activities that recognise and celebrate diversity.

We invite students to wear a touch of orange to mark this occasion.
