Barwon Southwest 

Development Weekend

The Barwon Southwest Development Weekend is heading to Bluewater, Colac on the 28th March. This event will be hosting a number of programs aimed at those within swimming clubs and the broader community. It is a chance for our school swimmers to be involved in a fun swim program. 

Activities include:

Fun Swim Program

  • A program aimed at graduating Learn To Swim participants and transitioning them into a club environment
  • 2:00pm-3:00pm
  • $30 +GST (Each participant will receive a participation pack)

 The Abilities Program

  • Aimed at people with a disability and introducing them to a club environment.
  • 3:00pm-4:00pm

Swimmer Clinic 

  • Current club swimmers are invited to participate in a high‑quality development clinic led by esteemed coach Richard Sleight, with a special athlete appearance from Bowen Gough, all proudly supported by Funky Trunks. This clinic gives developing athletes across the region access to expert coaching, performance insights, and inspiration from leaders in Australian swimming. Proudly supported by Funky Trunks.

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival Years 3-6 

Sacred Heart Athletics Day will be held this Friday 13th March at Colac Central Reserve (Colac Football Club). All students in Years 3–6 will participate in this exciting event. The day will run from 9:30am to 1:30pm, and students will walk to and from the Reserve with staff supervision.

Students are required to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring a drink bottle, fruit and plenty of snacks. Lunch will be eaten upon returning to school, and lunch orders are permitted on this day. Please ensure sunscreen is applied before school, as students will be outdoors for most of the morning. Sunscreen will also be available for reapplication throughout the event.

We are seeking parent helpers to assist on the day. If you are available, please indicate your availability on PAM.

Sacred Heart Junior Athletics F-2

On Thursday 2nd April, the students from Foundation – Year 2 will participate in the Sacred Heart Junior Athletics Carnival. This will take place at Sacred Heart between recess and lunch time (11:45am – 1:15pm). The students will be involved in a number of sporting activities e.g. High Jump, Egg and Spoon Race, Sprints etc. Parents/Grandparents are welcome to watch their child/children/grandchildren participate. Our Year 6 students will be the leaders of the activities on the day.

Students are reminded to apply sunscreen before arriving at school and ‘Please’ bring along a drink bottle. We look forward to a fun day.

Name: Cabe (Year 6JF)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball and football.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sports to play are basketball and football.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is rover because I love to run everywhere. My favourite position in basketball is point guard so I can stop players from shooting three-pointers.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I won a trophy for being the most determined player.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my running, my ball-handling skills in basketball, and my kicking skills in football.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the South East Melbourne Phoenix basketball team.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would pick basketballer Nathan Sobey because he is a good sport.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is to eat hot chips and gravy.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would say that I am very fit and that I am a good sport.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who is fair and trains very hard.

Name: Olive (Year 5DC)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball and acting.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in netball is GK because I love defending the ball and trying to stop the goal shooter from scoring.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when my team won the Netball Lightning premiership.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most is my jumping. I can now jump very high, which helps me with defending.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting teams are the Vixens netball team and the Collingwood football team.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose AFL player Patrick Cripps because he is a champion and has won two Brownlow Medals.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine before a game is to eat a packet of Pizza Shapes.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would say that I am a hardworking player who displays very good sportsmanship.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who works very hard, keeps going when it gets tough and never gives up.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are cricket, football, golf, soccer and basketball.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is cricket.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is in the backline because I love trying to run through packs of players.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I won the award for getting the most wickets for the season.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most is making sure my ‘wrong ’uns’ come out the right way!

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is Collingwood.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would pick Australian cricket champion Shane Warne.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is to put on my left pad, left glove, left shoe and left sock first.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would say that I am a very good spin bowler.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who shakes hands at the end of a game.
