2026 - 'Marathon Kids' Run Club - Thursday Mornings

Exciting news ... we will be starting a morning run club for all students from Years 2 to 6 (Prep and Year 1 later in the year) on a Thursday morning from 8.00 am to 8.30 each week.

We are going to start on Thursday March 12th ...

How it works

We will have a 10 minute running club (increasing with time) , followed by a fun game of some sort involving running, dodging and hand eye coordination (tagging).

Each student will be given an id card with a code so that each lap they will scan and upload how far they have run each session and then will accumulate their km/miles across the year. We will see how far we can run all together ... maybe even around the whole of Aus?!!

Students can run, jog or even walk. We will be using a leaderboard to add a bit of a competition as well, but this is not the main emphasis.

I hope to see many Year 2 to 6 in the coming weeks.

Some Benefits!

Kids' run clubs offer significant physical, mental, and social benefits, improving cardiovascular health, building endurance, and strengthening muscles while fostering lifelong healthy habits.

These clubs boost mental resilience, confidence, and focus, with morning sessions often improving classroom behavior and reducing stress. Additionally, they provide a structured, social environment for children to make friends and learn proper, safe running techniques

Physical Activity - Parents

MAKE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY A PRIORITY

Achieving 30 minutes of physical activity every day provides psychological and health benefits for adults and kids. When kids observe you this reinforces that an active lifestyle is a part of life and it's something you value.

GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Sleep is important at any age. Getting enough sleep helps your body recover, heal, and preps you for the next day.

EAT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

Provide fruits and vegetables at meal time and for snacks. Trying new foods, making grocery shopping fun, packing lunches together, and even prepping dinner together help to educate kids on the importance of healthy eating. Anytime you can, use meal prepping and meal time as an educational tool to help build healthy eating habits.

DRINK WATER

Model the way by drinking water with meals and carrying a water bottle when you are away from home. Proper hydration helps prevent fatigue, lowers stress levels, and keeps the body functioning well.

PROVIDE MINUTES OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AT HOME

Kids need 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a day. Take time to be active as a family.Keep it simple like walking to the park or getting the mail instead of driving. Have fun. Create at-home obstacle courses or teach kids how to play backyard games.
