About the Webinar:

The transition to employment can be overwhelming and confusing for many individuals. myWay Employability Plus is an online platform that offers neurodivergent individuals and their supporters a guided strengths-based process for exploring careers and setting goals. Backed by research and co-designed with autistic individuals, myWAY is based on five employability principles: (1) person-centred planning, (2) starting transition planning early, (3) encouraging big dreams, (4) having a champion on the team, and (5) focusing on the big picture about what work offers.

Understanding the broader benefits of work - building social networks, developing skills and resources for independence in the community, and having a valued place in society - can be powerful motivators.

Work experiences aligned to strengths and interests are helpful stepping stones in transition planning to understand the big picture benefits of work. This webinar will discuss strategies to find, plan for, and support autistic young people in work experiences.

All parents were invited on Tuesday 17th February, to meet their teacher and ES for this year and check out the newly refurbished classrooms. They were given an outline of the expected learnings in ASDAN and in turn they shared ideas for the future.

Also, parents now know which courses, work experience places, travel training and ASDAN module work, their child will be engaged in this term.

For some students, the new learnings are exciting and for others, challenging but throughout the year, all will develop confidence. Confidence to have a go, try new things, make mistakes and learn. Learn about themselves, their interests, capabilities and what the future may look like for them.

This week, 11/12C went to the Keilor Downs Secondary College (KDSC) farm for their work experience, planned a journey on PTV to Highpoint, worked in the kitchen and joined 11/12E for lawn bowls.

Independence is a core value which students will be working on each week. So, watch this space fortnightly for information and photos of our awesome students. 😊
