Principal's Message
Anthony Jackson

Jackson School is a collaborative learning community for all. We aim to develop independence through safety, respect and responsibility. We aspire to offer authentic, quality educational experiences that develop futures, create opportunities
and inspire student potential; enabling our students to be valued and contributing members of the wider community. We share and celebrate our successes and achievements.
The Issue Highlights
Dear Families,
Student Support Group (SSGs) Parent-Teacher Meetings
Thank you to all families who participated in our Parent-Teacher Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings this week. The purpose of the SSGs are to establish a strong home-school relationship, complete your child's Individual Education Plan & Jackson Learner Profile and review progress against your child's “Long Term” goals. The Term 1 SSGs are also an opportunity to discuss your child's Individual Learning Plan Goals for Semester 1.
Following your SSG your child's teacher will finalise your child's Semester 1 Individual Learning Plan (ILP). These will be emailed to families once they are published and will also be available on Xuno for you to access anytime. We aim to have every child’s parent or carer meet with the classroom teacher to discuss the learning of each child. If you have not yet had an opportunity to make an appointment to meet with your child's teacher, please contact them directly on SeeSaw to make a time. Thank you for your ongoing partnership with us.
Canteen & Tuck Shop Feedback
Jackson School Council are seeking your feedback of the Canteen and Tuckshop established last year. Fresh salad rolls, hot foods, and bakery treats are currently provided by St. Alban's Hot Bread Bakery each week. We are also exploring adding additional days to the service. Please note the cut off time for orders is 3pm the day before.
New Tuckshop Items: Mini Rice Cakes, Baked Potato Stix, Cheese & Biscuits
Halal options now available (salami salad roll, chicken schnitzel burger and hot dog).
Please use the Flexischool app for families and staff to place lunch orders from the Jackson Canteen and/or Tuck Shop. Please note that a $0.29 fee applies per order.
To create an account with Flexischools so that you can order and make payments for our school, you can download the Flexischools app from the Apple App Store or Google Storeand follow the prompts to create an account. Account set-up and online ordering instructions are available from Flexischools here. If you already have a Flexischools account for another family member, just select the Profile icon on the app and +Add yourself as a "New Student".

Lunchbox Ice Pack Reminder for Summer
Students are encouraged to bring store their lunches inside the classroom; particularly where they have an outside locker. This is to increase student independence and for food safety. We unfortunately do not have provision to refrigerate or heat student lunches at school. Please consider this when packing your child's lunchbox (deli meats/chicken/fish/dairy/salads/leftover rice or pasta). We also recommend you place an ice block in your child's lunch box. These are readily available at local supermarkets from $2. We recommend the MontiiCo brand as these last up to 8 hours. Failing this you can use a wrapped frozen water bottle.

Attendance, Late Arrivals & Early Leavers

We are working with families to continue to support student attendance at school. There is an increasing number of students regularly arriving late to school or being collected early from school. This significantly affects your child's education over the year. We understand families have a variety of commitments and some NDIS appointments cannot be avoided as we are unable to be accommodated during the school day.
Between 9:00 am and 9:20 am and between 2:00 pm and 2:50 pm each day our students learn about our Independent Learning areas of the Victorian Curriculum including: our Allied Health programs (Jackson Social and Zones of Regulation), our PBIS behaviour program, RRRR our social and emotional learning program, eSMART online safety, Health and Fitness. This is vitally important to our child's learning and development.
Before School
Staff are allocated in the morning and afternoon to keep traffic moving. The vehicle entry gates are opened automatically from 8:40 am. Parents/Carers are responsible for the supervision of their children until 8:45 am. We are unable to open the school grounds before 8:45 am due to staffing and supervision requirements. As per DE policy, schools are required to supervise students on school grounds 10 minutes before the start of the school day (8:50 am -9:00 am) and 10 mins after school (2:50 pm - 3:00 pm).
Parking & Brimbank Council Feedback

Front Car Park
We ask all family members entering the car park at this time to keep moving through the drop off and collection zone and not to park in the centre thoroughfare or block the entry gate.
When the pick-up bays are full, the electronic gates will close to prevent congestion and unsafe traffic build-up. The gates will automatically close between 2:15pm and 3:00pm each school day. They will only be reopened for emergencies by authorised staff.
Illegal Parking
It is not permitted to:
• Stop or park across a driveway (crossover)
• Block footpaths
• Stop in No Standing or No Stopping zones
Council officers are issuing infringement notices. The fine for obstruction offences is currently $814.04.
Where to Park
We strongly encourage families to park in surrounding streets and walk 5–10 minutes to school using the supervised crossing. Most nearby streets are two-hour parking (2P). Please follow all local signage.
Parking away from the school gates reduces congestion, improves safety and supports our neighbours and the hospital precinct.
Reducing Traffic at Pick-Up Time
Families may be eligible to access the free Student Disability Transport Program (SDTP) bus. Please contact the school office for further information.
Our priority is the safety of students, staff and families. We appreciate your cooperation as we manage increasing traffic demands in our area.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Anthony
