A big congratulations to the fabulous GPS Glamour Pom Team for their spectacular performance at the Aussie Gold State Championships on the weekend.
Over the course of the year, the team have shown excellent dedication and collaboration, making it an absolute pleasure for Mrs Brown to coach them.
The team placed 1st in the Youth Intermediate Pom division. An amazing result GPS Glamour!
Some fun facts to share with you:
- Gemma Stacey, now one of our wonderful SSOs, was in Mrs Brown’s first GPS Glamour Pom Team as a year 7 student, back in 2017
- Over the years, the team has entered 14 competitions and placed in all of them
- Results from over the years (2017-2024) 9 x 1st place, 3 x 2nd place, 2 x 3rd place
On behalf of our community of students, past and present, we thank Mrs Brown for her talent, time and commitment over the years. We are very lucky to have her here at GPS!
SAPSASA Basketball
On the 9th of August, a group of year 5 and 6 students went to The Lights Sports Centre to participate in SAPSASA boys and girls basketball. Both girls and boys played 4 games. The boys won 1 out of 4 games and so did the girls.
The boys ended up coming 2nd while unfortunately, the girls came 2nd to last. Both teams learnt how to play well and to work with people they haven't worked with yet, and we all had fun playing and enjoyed the games. At first, we all felt nervous, hoping to win, but after getting all warmed up, we worked well with each other as a team and tried our best.
Thank you to Mrs Robinson for taking us and for coaching the girls, and Jesse for supporting us and coaching the boys.
