Sammy D Foundation - Violence Prevention Program
Earlier this week, the Sammy D Foundation came to present their Violence Prevention Education Program to our year 5 students. The program, designed specifically for primary students, aims to change student’s attitudes towards violence by educating them about the negative impacts and providing them with strategies to keep themselves and their mates safe.
This consisted of an emotional and powerful presentation about Sam Davis, followed by small group workshops that focused on the following topics related to violence:
- Harm, impact and consequences
- Impact groups of violence
- Warning signs
- De-escalation strategies
We were very proud of the students’ levels of engagement, reflection, and maturity around the topic of violence. Let’s hope as a community we can empower young people and lessen the impact of violence, one conversation at a time.
