Competition with Respect

As we continue with Winter fixtures, it is crucial to adhere to key principles to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved. We ask that students, coaches, and parents follow the applicable sporting organisations Code of Conduct below so that all participants feel valued, supported, and safe.

"The encouragement of skill development and the pursuit of excellence should never be at the expense of fair play, good sportsmanship, and friendly rivalry. This code aims to ensure the standards of behaviour are maintained by our players, coaches, administrators, volunteers, parents, and spectators by providing a clear set of rules to deliver a safe, fair, and inclusive environment for all."

Players, Coaches, Administrators, Volunteers, Parents, and Spectators

Clayfield College encourages the full and wholehearted involvement and support of our teams, ensuring adherence to the Code of Behaviour.

Please note the following:

  • Respect for All: Treat everyone equally, fairly, and with dignity, regardless of gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, cultural or religious background, age, or disability. Any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination has no place in QGSSSA Sport and Activities.
  • Good Sportsmanship: Spectators are an essential part of QGSSSA and must conform to accepted standards of good sportsmanship and behaviour at all times.
  • Respect Officials, Coaches, and Players: Extend all courtesies to officials, coaches, and players. Lead by example and display appropriate social behaviour by avoiding profane, demeaning, or derogatory language, and refraining from harassing players, coaches, officials, or other spectators. Physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
  • Respect Officials’ Decisions: Respect the official's decisions. Do not abuse, threaten, or intimidate officials, and do not express displeasure towards their decisions in an abusive or unreasonable manner.
  • Accept Losses Gracefully: Instil the ability to accept losses and setbacks without undue disappointment.
  • Respect Opponents: Show respect for opponents; never ridicule mistakes or losses.
  • Support Participation: Remember that you are there to support the participants and ensure they enjoy the game.

Standards

A reminder that students should arrive in correct Clayfield College clothing for all sporting events. Students should wear the Clayfield College tracksuit or navy fleece if it is cold with closed-in shoes (eg sand shoes) rather than slides or Crocs. Students should compete in the correct competition uniform. Thank you for your support.
