We have observed increasing instances of illegal and inappropriate parking during the drop-off and pick-up times in the surrounding streets of the College.
Ensuring the safety of our children and the comfort of our neighbours is a priority that requires our collective effort. Unfortunately, improper parking practices are creating hazards for both students and local residents. These issues include obstructing traffic flow, reducing visibility for drivers and pedestrians, and increasing the risk of accidents. Additionally, our neighbours are facing difficulties due to blocked driveways and restricted access, which affects their daily routines and quality of life.
Licence plate numbers are being reported by residents to local Council and Police.
We kindly remind everyone to adhere to the parking regulations and guidelines in place. This includes:
Your cooperation is essential in maintaining a safe environment for our children and respecting the needs of our local community. We encourage all parents to park in designated areas and if you are walking into the Campus to drop off or collect your child, please do not park in or opposite Circular Drive.
Let us all work together to uphold these standards and demonstrate our commitment to the wellbeing of our school and neighbourhood. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Last week, six students from Redlands School in Sydney visited Clayfield College as part of our first Year 8 co-educational exchange program. Redlands is a K to Year 12 co-educational school in the inner north of Sydney, with the same motto as Clayfield, 'Let Your Light Shine'.
Redlands School students stayed with Clayfield billet families and in the Boarding House. Our students welcomed them into their homes, and their classes. Students enjoyed a day trip at Southbank and the Brisbane CBD.
Halfway through the week, the Redlands students hosted Clayfield students and enjoyed a similar experience, but in the heart of Sydney. We are so grateful for the relationship with Redlands School and we look forward to strengthening and continuing the relationship in the years to come.
We are looking forward to celebrating Book Week in Secondary with a Dress Up Day on Friday 23 August. Students in Years 7 to 12 are invited to dress as their favourite book character. Please could you ensure that your children are dressing as a book character and that their costume is appropriate to wear to school.
Students who are travelling by public transport will need to get changed into their costume before and after school. Any students attending the CCOCA Future Leaders Program: STEM Breakfast will need to change into their costumes after the breakfast.
Semester 2 Co-curricular/Group Photos will be taken in Term 4 on Thursday 10 October. The schedule will be shared soon.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Susan Grummitt (Class of 1986) as the guest speaker at our next Future Leaders Program event for 2024.
