Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brigid’s,

Father’s Day & Special Persons Day Celebrations

On Friday last week, we celebrated all the wonderful fathers, uncles, grandfathers, carers and father figures at our St Brigid’s Father's Day Breakfast. We loved seeing everyone come together for breakfast, chatting with each other and enjoying spending time with each other. Thank you dads and other special people in your children’s lives for coming on Friday to make the day special for all. Thank you to our many helpers for making the Father's Day Breakfast possible.  Special mention to Larissa and her daughters who arrived at 6.30am to do breakfast, Vivian and Vanessa for helping set up on Thursday and to Margeaux who washed all the table cloths!

Thank you to our Year 6 leaders who as always do a wonderful job of running our Father’s Day Stall. I hope the gift they chose for you was exactly what you wanted or needed. 

I hope your Sunday was filled with love and laughter and dads were made to feel special.

District Athletics

Wow! What wonderful achievements we had at the District Athletics last Thursday.

Congratulations to everyone who participated - your sportsmanship and cheering for each other was to be commended! Overall we came 9th out of 11 schools and came 2nd in the Handicap calculations.

MACS School Improvement Survey is OPEN

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys  (MACSSIS): Monday 31 August – Friday 18 September 2026

A big thank you to those who have completed this so far. The survey has been emailed to all parents and carers. Please check your junk box. We would really love to hear from as many of our community as we can. It is so important for a school to hear what they are doing well so we can keep doing what we are doing well and what could be even better so we can make improvements. Please take this opportunity to share your thinking. Over the next couple of weeks our staff and Year 4-6 students will also complete the survey.

MACS Visitors

Today we had the MACS Engagement team visit our school to help us in updating our website and to take more up to date photos for our advertising boards. Thank you to the parents who contributed to the video, it was much appreciated.

Recent Illnesses

Over the past month, various viruses and respiratory issues have been sweeping through our classrooms, leading to a spike in absences and numerous calls for children to be picked up from school. This is a fitting reminder for everyone to remain vigilant during this challenging period. Please ensure that children stay home if they exhibit high temperatures or cold like symptoms, to ensure this does not impact the wider class or staffing group. Presently we have a couple of cases of Influenza in the junior school so please be extra vigilant. If you have symptoms of Influenza we encourage you to seek advice from your medical provider.

Hats and Sunscreen

Now that spring has finally arrived and the weather is trying to warm up, just a reminder to put some sunscreen and hats in their bags. When we return to school in Term 4, all students are to wear their school hats at playtimes.

🏅 Champions Corner

Congratulations to Gigi who competed in her first gymnastics competition at Gymnastics Victoria in Windsor today, alongside 60 gymnasts from six different gymnastics schools across Melbourne.

The gymnasts rotated through six different apparatus, and when it came time for the awards, Gigi was thrilled to come first out of 35 gymnasts in Level 6 Halos for her rings routine! She also placed fourth overall in the ‘All-Rounder Gymnast’ award.

We are so proud of you Gigi.

Foundation 2028 Sibling Applications

Believe it or not, we are already planning for Foundation 2028! We have received strong interest from new families wishing to join our St Brigid’s community, and we are beginning to look ahead to future enrolments. If you have a younger child who is eligible to commence Foundation in 2028, we kindly ask that you submit a sibling application as soon as possible. This will assist us in understanding the number of sibling places required and help us determine how many new families we may be able to welcome into our wonderful school community. Please see Tracey in the office for an enrolment form.

Planning for 2027

As we begin preparations for the 2027 school year, we kindly ask that families notify the school as soon as possible if their child/children will not be returning to St Brigid’s next year.

Having an accurate understanding of our student numbers allows us to plan effectively for staffing, class structures and funding allocations for 2027. 

Term 3 Celebration of Learning

Our Celebration of Learning will take place on Wednesday 16th of August at 8:45am.  We look forward to showing you what we have learnt this Term.

Last Day of Term & End of Term Arrangements

A reminder that the final day of Term 3 will be Thursday, 17th September. We have an exciting lineup planned for the day:

• Sports Colors Day Parade & Activities: We will kick off the morning with our Sports Colours Day Parade, followed by a morning filled with sports activities.

• St Brigid’s Fun Fair: From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, students will host the St Brigid’s Fun Fair. It has been fantastic watching the students prepare for this student-led event. A sincere thank you to all the parents who contributed mystery jars, soft drink bottles, and other items—your support is greatly appreciated! Please note coins be bought on the day wherever possible as we will not have a huge cash float.

School Closure Day

Please note that Friday, 18th September is a School Closure Day. Staff will be participating in a professional learning day on Positive Behavior, facilitated by MACS staff.

Save the Date - St Brigid's Art Show - Thursday 8 October - 6pm to 8pm

Our Art Show is fast approaching - Save the Date - Thursday 8th October. The Art Show this year will feature a range of artworks, including painting, collage, sculpture, papier mache and animation.  So many exciting things to view and admire! Tickets ON SALE NOW via CDFpay Flexischools App - Adults $10.00 - children 12 and under - free.

This year, our class teachers and their students have created a class art piece that we will auction off in an online silent auction. The art pieces will be displayed at the Art Show with the silent auction being opened on the night of the Art Show at 6.00pm. The online auction will remain open for a week and will be closed on Thursday 15th at 2.00pm and the winning parents will be notified soon after the close of the auction.

As our students will be preparing the final newsletter of the term, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and happy holiday!
