Dear Families
What a great opportunity it was yesterday to hand over the Principal role to Meika for the day. She did a wonderful job and threw herself into every task that came her way. Thankfully, there were no angry parents on the phone, no major student issues and no blocked toilets to deal with… so she got to experience the fun side of being a Principal!
Following the success of yesterday, I look forward to offering our Principal for a Day opportunity to other Year 4 and 5 students each term. It’s a great way for our aspiring young leaders to step outside their comfort zone, experience leadership firsthand and showcase their skills before moving into Year 6 and the leadership opportunities that come with it.
Congratulations, Meika, on setting the bar so high for our future Principals for a Day!
A Wonderful Celebration of Our Young Artists
What a wonderful celebration of our students and their creativity at last week’s Art Show! Thank you to the many families, grandparents and friends who joined us for the opening on Tuesday evening, and to those who took the opportunity to wander through the exhibition before and after school over the following days.
For me, one of the real highlights was watching our students proudly lead their families around the displays, eagerly pointing out their own creations and explaining the ideas and techniques behind their work. There was such a genuine sense of pride throughout the school, and it was lovely to hear so many positive comments about the quality and variety of the artwork on display.
Our theme, “Once Upon a Time…”, certainly captured the imagination of our students. From our youngest artists through to our Year 6 students, every child had something to contribute, and together they transformed our spaces into a wonderful gallery of colour, creativity and storytelling.
Congratulations also to the recipients of the Art Teacher Awards and Principal’s Awards. Choosing the Principal’s Awards was no easy task! There were so many pieces I could have selected, and I hope every student feels proud of what they created.
A very special thank you must go to Mrs Caroline Laming, whose passion for art and belief in the creative potential of every child was evident throughout the exhibition. The extraordinary amount of planning, preparation, mounting and displaying that goes into an event like this cannot be underestimated. Thank you also to our classroom teachers and LSOs who supported Caroline and our students along the way.
Most importantly, congratulations to our students. You should be enormously proud of what you created and the way you shared it with our community.
We’ll give the Art Show a rest next year as attention turns to our 2027 School Production… but more about that another time!
Father’s Day Celebrations
It was lovely to have so many fathers and special persons join us on the afternoon of Friday 4th September to celebrate Father’s Day. We hope you all enjoyed the opportunity to come in and share in the festivities as well as experiencing a little of what happens in the classrooms each day.
I hope all our Dads and father figures had the opportunity to spend some valuable time with their children. As our children grow they tend to look more closely at us as parents for guidance, role modeling and good behaviour! We have an enormous responsibility to be present to our children and to continue to nurture our relationship for years to come.
Footy Day
We will celebrate `Footy Day’ on Friday 18th September, with students encouraged to wear colours from any sporting code, however navy blue is strongly encouraged - go Blues!!! A huge thanks to the Parents’ Association for coordinating the `footy lunch’. We will have a special footy parade at 9am on the basketball courts, all are welcome to join in.
Class Placements for 2027
As we begin preparing for the 2027 school year, our teachers will soon start the process of placing students into class groupings in line with our Class Placement of Students Policy.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, this is a complex and thoughtful process as we work to create balanced and cohesive classes. Teachers take great care in considering each child’s academic, social and emotional needs to ensure the best possible learning environment.
We understand that the announcement of classes in December can sometimes bring mixed emotions for students and families, particularly around friendships. I ask that you trust in the teachers’ professionalism and judgement as they make decisions that are in the best interests of every child. While we cannot guarantee that children will be placed with particular friends or teachers, every effort is made to ensure that each child is well placed for a successful year ahead.
If you have any relevant information that you would like considered when placing your child, please email me directly at principal@htws.catholic.edu.au to request a Consideration for Placement of Student Form 2027.
These forms must be returned directly to me (not classroom teachers) by Wednesday 21 October, 2026.
Please note that:
- Any previous discussions with your child’s current teacher should now be redirected to me via this form.
- Considerations submitted in previous years will not carry over, a new form is required each year.
- Requests for specific teachers or friends will not be considered. However, information about social factors, for example, if children do not work well together, can be submitted and will be taken into account.
Finally, if your family is not planning to return to Holy Trinity in 2027, please notify the School Office as soon as possible. Accurate enrolment numbers are essential as we finalise class structures and teacher allocations for next year. Thank you for your understanding and support as we begin planning for another exciting year ahead at Holy Trinity.
MACSSIS Parent Survey
This week is the final week to share your feedback with us. If you haven't yet had a chance, we invite you to complete the MACSSIS family survey by Friday this week.
This is your chance to provide anonymous feedback about the school which is used by MACS (Melb. Archdiocese Catholic Schools) to help us make improvements for our community. Your response to the survey is anonymous. However we ask that you send Mrs Dowling a screenshot or a hard copy of your final page (adowling@htws.catholic.edu.au) after you have completed the survey as a way to identify that you would like to be part of the raffle to win a $50 “ANYSTORE” GIFT CARD. This raffle will be drawn at a Friday assembly in the coming weeks.
An email with your unique login link and code was sent on Monday 31st August.
End of School Term - Friday 18th September - 1 pm finish
The school day will finish at 1pm on the last day of each school term to provide Time in Lieu for staff. We acknowledge the early finish time does impact some families so we will therefore offer supervision of students until 3.30pm if required. Please indicate below if your child needs to remain at school following the 1pm finish time.
If you have more than one child please provide the name of each child below. For planning purposes please complete the form before Wednesday 16th September at 12pm.
Supervision after 1pm - Friday 18th September 2026
We will conclude the term with an assembly at 12.30pm to announce the TORCH Bearer of the Term Awards. Parents are most welcome to attend.
Ready to be SunSmart!
With spring now here and the weather (hopefully!) starting to warm up, it’s time to make sure we’re ready to be SunSmart again.
From September through to April, UV levels regularly reach 3 and above, which means we need to have our sun protection measures in place. This includes wearing appropriate sun-protective clothing and our school hats, making good use of shaded areas and applying sunscreen. School hats will be compulsory for all students and staff from the beginning of Term 4, so now is a good time to track down your child’s hat, give it a wash if it needs one, make sure it still fits, and pop it back into their school bag ready for next term. And one final request, please make sure it is clearly named! With more than 200 very similar-looking navy hats around the school, a name makes returning a lost one much easier!
Final Thoughts
As we come to the end of another busy term, I would like to wish all our students, families and staff a safe, relaxing and well-earned break.
As I often do at the end of each term, I want to say a genuine thank you to our entire Holy Trinity community. Term 3 has certainly been a busy one, filled with plenty of learning, opportunities, celebrations and achievements. Through it all, I continue to be grateful for the way our students, families and staff work together, support one another and contribute to making Holy Trinity such a positive community.
I hope the school holidays provide everyone with an opportunity to slow down a little, enjoy some time with family and friends, and recharge before we return for the final term of 2026.
And with a public holiday and the AFL Grand Final thrown into the mix, there should hopefully be a little extra time to relax as well! Good luck to whoever you might be supporting on Grand Final Day, particularly if your team is fortunate enough to still be there!
