As we head into the final weeks of Year 7, students have been working hard to complete their final assessments and finish the year on a strong note. It has been wonderful to see the focus, perseverance, and growth displayed across all classes as we wrap up an excellent year of learning.

Sporting Highlights

Over the past few weeks, we’ve also had some exciting sporting events that showcased the talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship of our students.

On Wednesday 19 November 2025, the Kurnai College Year 7 Baseball Team travelled to Cheltenham Baseball Club to compete in the State Baseball Competition.

The team played three competitive games, facing Truganina P–9 College, Norwood Secondary College, and Beaumaris Secondary College. While Kurnai did not secure a win on the day, our players demonstrated determination, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship in every match.

Students supported one another on and off the field, embraced new strategies, and benefited greatly from the guidance of coach Gregg Duncan. Their teamwork was further strengthened with support from several of our Year 10 students, whose help during training was greatly appreciated.

A special thank you goes to Churchill Baseball Club for generously supplying equipment and supporting our program. Well done to all students involved — we look forward to seeing this team continue to grow and build on their strong foundations.

We also congratulate our Year 7 Girls Volleyball Team for making it to the State Finals! A big well done to Annika, Shimmy, and Vienna, who represented the school proudly and performed brilliantly throughout the competition.

Looking Ahead – Headstart

Next week we begin our Year 8 Headstart Program. Students will start working with the Year 8 Team Leader, Sarah Lewis. Both Paris and Erin have completed a thorough handover with Sarah to ensure a smooth transition, and this is a wonderful opportunity for many students to enjoy a fresh start as they move into Year 8.

On Friday, all students moved into their new Year 8 locker bay, which is located at the opposite end of the school. If you normally drop your child off in the morning, you may find it easier to drop them near the outside bus bay on Northways Road.

I wish all students the very best as they begin their Headstart journey.

Important Dates

Thank you all for a wonderful term and for your ongoing support. It has been a privilege getting to know this cohort, and I hope to stay connected with families again in the near future.
