We have a number of important updates and exciting events happening at our school over the next few weeks. Please take a moment to read through the latest news.

Check-In Assessments

Our Year 3 to 6 students will be participating in Check-in Assessments over the next few weeks. These are short, regular assessments designed to help us understand each child’s progress in areas such as reading and numeracy. There is no need for parents to prepare their children for these assessments; the purpose is to provide teachers with valuable information to support each student’s progress. 

Festival of Instrumental Music (FOIM)

We are thrilled to be hosting FOIM rehearsals here this week. Schools from across NSW will visit to rehearse for this prestigious festival. Our students will be part of these rehearsals as they prepare for their big performance at the Sydney Opera House later this year. It is a fantastic opportunity for our young musicians to develop their skills and collaborate with peers from other schools. 

NAPLAN

NAPLAN stands for the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy. It is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 across Australia. NAPLAN tests the skills and knowledge that are essential for every student to become a successful learner, focusing on reading, writing, numeracy, and language conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation).

The results give teachers, parents, and schools valuable information about how students are progressing in the key areas of literacy and numeracy. These insights help us to plan our programs and provide support where it is needed, ensuring every child continues to grow academically.

Our school has received the NAPLAN results, and our teachers are currently analysing the information. We will use this data to evaluate our current programs and identify individual support needs for students. This helps us provide tailored support for every student, promoting continual learning growth at all achievement levels.

We are pleased to share that our 2026 results are particularly strong. Our students performed better than those in similar schools and students across the state, especially in the area of Numeracy. This reflects the hard work of our students and staff, and their families and guides us as we continue to provide high-quality educational programs.

Father’s Day Stall – Next Week

The P&C will be running a Father’s Day stall next week, offering a great selection of gifts for students to purchase for their dads or father figures. It’s a great way for the school community to come together and celebrate this special occasion.

P&C Meeting Highlights

At the recent P&C meeting, we had some fantastic discussions on topics including school uniforms, the school canteen, school photos, after-school programs, and more. We value the insights parents bring to these conversations, and involving you helps shape decisions that benefit our whole school community. We encourage all parents to get involved in future meetings.
