Foundation

Happy Book Week everyone! What a fun and exciting week to celebrate rich literature. The Foundation students absolutely loved everything to do with the week - the book fair, plushie day, dressing up on Wednesday and writing our own class book titled ‘How Our Families Show They Love Us’ (to be published early next week…).

A reminder that next Wednesday is a school closure day, so students will not be attending school. Have a great weekend!

Year 1

Hi Families,

What a wonderful week we have had! 📚✨ There has been so much excitement, imagination and joy in our classroom as we celebrated Book Week! From sharing favourite stories and discovering new characters to dressing up and bringing our favourite books to life, it has certainly been a week full of magic and adventure. 🌈📖

The children have loved talking about their favourite books, listening to stories, creating, imagining and sharing their ideas with one another. It has been wonderful to see their faces light up as they recognised familiar characters and became completely immersed in the wonderful world of books. We have certainly had some very creative costumes and some very excited little readers! 🧚‍♀️🦸‍♂️🐻👑

A very big THANK YOU to all our wonderful families for supporting Book Week and helping the children get involved. I know that costumes, books and special activities can take time and effort to organise, and I truly appreciate everything you do to make these experiences so special for the children.

❤️ Terri

Year 3/4 AL

Hi families,

We kicked off the week with our Year 4 Athletics on Monday, where our students showed fantastic enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship, giving things a go and encouraging one another throughout the day. Well done Year 4's!

What an amazingly busy week we have had at school! The Book Week theme “Symphony of Stories” certainly brought our school to life, with books, creativity, imagination and plenty of excitement filling our classrooms and corridors. It was amzing to see the incredible costumes our students wore on Wednesday. If that wasn't enough, Thursday was another special day being Plushie Day, with students bringing along their favourite cuddly companions and enjoying the fun of sharing their special toys with their friends. We hope the students enjoyed themselves this week! A huge thank you to all our families and students for your wonderful efforts and support throughout such a busy and exciting week.

Reminder: next Wednesday 2nd of September is a Whole School Closure Day, so there will be no school for students on this day, we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Abby and Lauren

Year 3/4

Hi Families,

What a wonderfully busy week we have had in Year 3/4! 📚✨ We celebrated Book Week with a range of exciting activities, including a special incursion, Bring a Plushie to School Day and, of course, dressing up as our favourite book characters for the Book Parade. It was wonderful to see the students sharing their love of books and bringing so much creativity and enthusiasm to each activity.

Our Year 4 students also participated in the Year 4–6 Athletics Day on Monday, where they showed great sportsmanship and gave each event their best effort.

Our Year 3/4 class also did a fantastic job presenting at assembly. It has certainly been a very full and exciting week!

Thank you to all our families for helping to organise costumes, plushies and everything else needed to make the week so memorable for the students.

A reminder that next Wednesday is a school closure day, so students will not be attending school.

Have a restful weekend,

Tess

Year 5/6J

What a fabulous and fun week it has been in 5/6!

On Monday we had our District athletics carnival, where students in grades 4-6 represented our school in a variety of track and field events. It was so pleasing to see the great efforts and participation from all athletes on the day. Well done! A big shoutout to Kaone and Viraj who will be moving into the district final and participating in the 200 metres and discus respectively.

On Tuesday the excitement continued with our visit to the Melbourne Zoo apart of our learning in Inquiry this term focusing on “how do living things thrive and survive in the wild?”. Students had the opportunity to view many of the animals within the zoo, with the highlights being the lemurs, hippo, snakes and lions. We also were lucky to have a program ran by one of the zookeepers who showed us the adaptations and features of different animals with real and replica animal bones.

Then on Wednesday, we were able to enjoy the festivities of book week! There were such amazing costumes this year, with awesome effort and dedication to make the day so special with activities from staff and great participation from students.

Enjoy all the photos from our week!

Year 5/6M

This Wednesday we all dressed up as our favourite book character for Book Week. Everyone had amazing costumes on - there were Harry Potters, Star War people, inflatable dinosaurs and even a gorilla, and a little red hen was also bobbing around! The parade was so much fun and very colourful. We couldn’t believe how full the M.P.R. was with parents and friends. All our teachers joined in the parade too, with their crazy and wonderful costumes. During this day, we were inspired by our favourite books to design a cover for a CD. What a great activity this was! We also read the book ‘Dear Brocolli’, and this then inspired us to create our own new story. Book Week is always an exciting time at Sacred Heart but we think that this year was certainly the most fantastic, fun and best one ever!!!  By Chloe, Arvin, Lawrence, Layla
