Our Amazing Book Week – Symphony of Stories

What an amazing Book Week we have had at Sacred Heart! This year, our theme, “Symphony of Stories,” brought our school to life as we celebrated the joy of books, reading, imagination and the wonderful stories that connect us all.

It has been wonderful to see our students, families and staff embrace the theme with such energy, creativity and enthusiasm. From the fantastic costumes to the many special activities and experiences, the joy and excitement across the school has been truly wonderful to see.

A very special thank you to Prem, Rosetta and Di for organising such a wonderful week and creating so many memorable experiences for our students. Your creativity, time and dedication helped make Book Week a beautiful celebration of our love of books and stories.

Thank you to all our families, students and staff for making our 2026 Book Week such a special and memorable week!

Clifton Grove – Student Safety 

I recently contacted Darebin Council to raise concerns about the parking signs and arrangements in Clifton Grove, particularly in relation to the safety of our students and families and the fines some families have received.

I also met with a representative from Council’s Transport team to discuss these concerns. Council is now reviewing the signage and parking arrangements, and I am waiting to hear what changes or improvements may be possible.

I will keep our families updated as we receive further information from Council.

Safe Routes to School – Darebin Council Grant

We are excited to announce that Sacred Heart Primary School has received a grant from Darebin Council to participate in the Safe Routes to School (Octopus Schools) Program.

This exciting initiative will help us work with Darebin Council to make travelling to and from school safer and easier for our students and families, while encouraging more walking, scooting and cycling.

We strongly encourage parents to complete this simple 3-minute survey to help us work with Darebin Council to make it safer and easier for kids to travel to our school.

Your feedback will help inform how we improve road safety and encourage more walking, scooting and cycling to school next year as part of Darebin Council’s Octopus Schools program.

Student-Free Curriculum Day

Wednesday 2 September will be a Student-Free Curriculum Day at Sacred Heart Primary School.

MACSEYE is taking bookings for the day for families who require care (if there are sufficient numbers).

Our staff professional learning focus will be MACS 2030: Vision for Instruction & Engagement, providing staff with an opportunity to reflect, learn and work together as we continue to strengthen teaching and learning at Sacred Heart.

Spring Festival School Holidays!

We are excited to share that bookings are now open for the MACSEYE Spring Festival School Holiday Program, running from Monday 21 September to Friday 2 October.

There are lots of exciting activities planned for children throughout the school holidays.

Please see the attached program brochure and poster for the full activity schedule, booking information and fees. Printed brochures will also be distributed to students.

We are hoping that many of our families will take advantage of this wonderful program, as strong participation will help support its continuation at Sacred Heart Primary School.

We encourage families to have a look at the program and book early to secure their preferred activities.
