Foundation - Elmer the Elephant

Foundation students began a new and exciting artwork this week. We read "Elmer", a story about an elephant, who is different to all the other elephants in the herd. In the end, it is his differences that make him really special. Students learnt about vertical and horizontal lines, and painted their patchwork with watercolour paints. Their goal was to make every square a different colour. Lots of smiles this week as they really enjoy painting. Next week we will be finishing off our painting, drawing and cutting out our elephants, and pasting onto a jungle background.

Thanks again to local Aboriginal artist Tammy for coming into the school and sharing her art knowledge and culture with us. You can see our whole school collaboration in the foyer (near the office).

Year 3/4 Reader's Theatre

The year 3/4 classes have been working hard on building their reading fluency by participating in some Reader's Theatre. We have been reading lots of fractured fairytales and working hard to read with lots of expression. Here's what some of the students had to say about what they've liked about it:

• Harry - When I find out what character I'm going to be reading, I know the voice straight away and I love being able to make their voice. 
• Imogen - I like listening to other students and how they've read with expression and different voices. 
• Ned - It is really fun and I can understand the stories easily. 
• Declan - I've liked reading stories that are different to how they normally are. 
• Lola - It is fun reading these stories to other people. I like listening to my friends make funny noises for different characters. 
• Ezra - I like trying to make the voices of the different characters.
