Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic start to Term 3!

It was wonderful to see how positively our students embraced the changes introduced at the beginning of the term. Across the school, classrooms have been calm, focused and purposeful, with students settling quickly into learning and making the most of every opportunity.

The playground has also been a positive space, with students demonstrating respect, responsibility and care for one another. Thank you to our students, staff and families for their support in making the first week such a success. We look forward to building on this strong start throughout the term.

Punctuality – being on time at the start of the day ready for learning!

It has been great to see that the majority of our children are arriving on time each morning, ready for roll and for morning prayer at 9.00am (first bell) and ready to begin their learning soon after. Thank you to parents for ensuring this takes place.

It is interesting to note that even if 10 minutes late a day adds up to 50 in a week (equivalent to 1 full lesson) and 500 minutes over the course of a term (equivalent to 12 full lessons).

It is essential that a smooth start to the day is established for your children so that excellent learning can take place. We ask that you continue to ensure that the children arrive on time to move to their classrooms for the 9.00am start.

School Garage Sale – Everything must go!

Don't forget our School Garage Sale taking place this Thursday 23rd July from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The sale is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain while supporting our school community. A wide range of items will be available, and we encourage families, friends and community members to come along and have a look.

The event is also being promoted throughout the local community, and we would love to see a strong turnout. We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday afternoon.

Casual Dress Day

Next Friday is our next Casual Dress Day. Students are invited to wear casual clothes and, if they are able, bring along a small donation to support our chosen charity, the Opening the Doors Foundation.

The Opening the Doors Foundation supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Victoria by helping remove barriers to education. The foundation provides scholarships and assistance with school expenses, helping young people access opportunities and achieve their educational goals.

We thank our families for their generosity and support of this important cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps make a difference in the lives of young people and their families.

Term 3 Learning Conversations

Our Term 3 Learning Conversations will take place on Wednesday 29th July and Tuesday 4th August from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

These meetings provide an important opportunity for families, teachers and students to come together to celebrate learning, discuss progress and set goals for the future. Students will be actively involved in the conversations, sharing work samples and reflecting on their achievements and next steps.

We encourage ALL families to attend their learning conversations or PSG meetings (see below) as they strengthen the partnership that supports every child's success. Bookings can be made via the SIMON Everywhere app or by contacting the office.

In order to facilitate more effective conversation at these meetings, it may be worth giving some thought to the following questions:

• What do you see as your child’s most important success this year at school?
• How do you see that your child’s learning needs are being met at the moment?
• How might we be able to work together to enhance things further for the second half of the school year?
•  Do you or your child feel the need to raise any issues for discussion at the meeting?

Mid-year meetings are a formal opportunity for parent/teacher communication but certainly these meetings are not the only times when there can be effective communication about your child’s learning. Teachers are always happy to make themselves available to discuss your child’s progress. The allocated time is 15 mins per interview.

Term 3 PSG Meetings

We also have PSGs taking place on Tuesday 4th, Thursday 6th, Tuesday 11th, Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th of August, 8:30am-3:15pm. 

These meetings provide an important opportunity to discuss Personal Learning Plans, specific adjustments, targeted interventions and progress made towards learning goals for those students who receive support related to their disability.  

If you are required to book a PSG appointment you will receive an SMS from the school. PSG appointments can be booked via the SIMON Everywhere app or alternatively you can contact the office .  

• Please note if your child needs a PSG meeting you do not need to book a Learning Conversation 

School and Family Partnership
