Our new bishop
It is always a privilege to witness significant moments in the life of our Church, and yesterday Matt and I were honoured to attend the installation of Bishop René at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The ceremony was rich in tradition, celebration and reverence, bringing together people from across the Diocese to welcome Bishop René into his new ministry. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome him to the St Monica’s community in the months ahead.
Last week, our Sacramental Program commenced, with 17 students beginning their preparation to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. This is a special time in the faith journey of these young people and their families. The Sacramental celebration will take place at St Joseph’s Church on Friday, 5 September. We ask our school community to keep these students and their families in your prayers as they prepare for this important occasion.
This week also marked the return of our weekly school Masses, with our Grade 4 students attending Friday morning Mass alongside parishioners from St Monica’s Parish. Participation in these celebrations provides valuable opportunities for students to grow in their faith and strengthen their connection with our parish community.
St Monica’s Feast Day
Please add the following date to your calendar. Our St Monica’s Feast Day Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 27 August, at 9:30am at St Joseph’s Church, Quarry Hill. The entire school community will gather to celebrate our patron saint and give thanks for the many blessings of our school. We warmly invite all parents, carers and family members to join us for this special celebration.
We look forward to sharing these important faith experiences with our students and families throughout the term.
