Principal Report

It has certainly been a busy and exciting start to the term, and I have tried to capture just some of the many highlights and achievements across our school community. Thank you to all students, staff and families for your ongoing support, involvement and contribution to making Keysborough College such a vibrant and successful school community.

We are thrilled to share that our preliminary NAPLAN data has now been released and, following our initial analysis, the results are extremely encouraging. Most excitingly, we have already exceeded all of the School Strategic Plan NAPLAN targets we had set to achieve by the end of 2028.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff and families, and reflects the collective commitment across the College to improving learning outcomes for every student. While we are incredibly proud of these early results, we remain committed to continuous improvement and ensuring every student is supported to achieve their personal best.

Camps and Excursions

This term has been filled with wonderful opportunities for students beyond the classroom.

During Week 1, our Year 8 students attended Allambee Camp, while in Week 4 our Year 7 students enjoyed Camp Rumbug. Both camps were blessed with fantastic weather and provided students with memorable experiences, opportunities to build friendships, develop resilience and challenge themselves in new environments. Thank you to all staff who attended to support a memorable camp experience for all students!

Selected Year 11 and 12 Banksia VM students also attended the “ABCN Interview to Impress” excursion on Thursday 14 May. The feedback from the facilitator was glowing: “What a great bunch of students at i2i today. They were so delightful — polite, funny, engaging and responsive. They leaned into it and learnt a lot. I think it’s safe to say that this program is my favourite program of the year so far. Thanks for organising it and making it a success.” From beginning to end, our students demonstrated exemplary behaviour, positive attitudes and outstanding participation, proudly upholding our RED values and representing the College with distinction.

Applied Learning in Action

Our Applied Learning students continue to make a meaningful impact both within the College and in the wider community.

The Banksia Year 10 Applied Learning students have been designing and constructing furniture for the new Acacia offices. They have done an incredible job creating new meeting room tables, specially designed with the Keysborough College logo incorporated into the design. Their craftsmanship and pride in their work have been outstanding.

Meanwhile, the Acacia Year 10 Applied Learning “Community at Work” program has commenced a project at Keysborough Primary School. Students have begun painting dark brick areas to brighten the hallway spaces, and the leadership team at Keysborough Primary School have been thrilled with the progress following the first session. Students will continue working on the project until completion.

Our College was represented at both the Springvale and Noble Park ANZAC memorials. Banksia Student Captains, Jimmy and Shakthi, represented our College at the Springvale ANZAC service. At the Noble Park ANZAC service, Acacia Campus Captain Salvie (who sang the National Anthem) and the Acacia Band conducted by Tom Kenneth and Basil Rizopoulos performed.

Our College was proudly represented at both the Springvale and Noble Park ANZAC memorial services earlier this term. Banksia Student Captains Jimmy and Shakthi represented the College at the Springvale ANZAC service, while at Noble Park, Acacia Campus Captain Salvie performed the National Anthem. The Acacia Band, conducted by Tom Kenneth and Basil Rizopoulos, also performed beautifully during the service. We are incredibly proud of all students involved for representing the College with maturity, respect and pride.

Thank you to all families who attended the recent Parent Teacher Interviews across both campuses. We greatly appreciate the strong turnout and value the partnership we share with families in supporting student learning, wellbeing and success. Strong home-school partnerships play a vital role in helping students thrive, and we thank our families for their ongoing support and engagement.

It was fantastic to see such high levels of participation from students, whether competing on the track and field, supporting peers, or embracing the fun and community atmosphere of the events. Thank you to staff and student leaders who helped make both days such a success.

Farewell and Thank You to Lee-Anne

We would like to sincerely thank Lee-Anne Theodorou for her outstanding dedication and service to our school community, particularly in her role as School Council President up until this year.

Lee-Anne’s leadership, consistency and unwavering support over many years have been greatly valued and deeply appreciated by both School Council and the broader College community. Her willingness to remain on Council (even though her children had finished) to support the transition into 2026 and assist with the appointment of a new School Council President reflects her generosity and commitment to our school.

Lee-Anne has made a lasting contribution to Keysborough College and has helped position our school strongly for the future. We thank her for everything she has contributed and wish her and her family all the very best!

As we move into the second half of Term 2, we look forward to the many opportunities, events and learning experiences still to come. We thank our students, staff and families for their continued support and partnership, and we are excited to continue building on the positive momentum and achievements already seen across the College this term
