YEAR 10 - SENIOR SCHOOL INFORMATION EVENING
All Year 10 students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend our upcoming Senior School Information evening.
DATE: Tuesday, 23rd June
TIME: 6:30–7:30pm
LOCATION: Banksia Campus Theatre
This important evening will provide an overview of the Senior pathway’s options available to students, including the VCE, VCE VM, and VET programs. You’ll hear directly from our VCE and VCE VM Leaders, as well as our Careers team, who will be available to answer questions on subject selection, future pathways, VET opportunities, and Head Start options.
This is a valuable opportunity to gain clarity, ask questions, and support your child to make informed decisions as they begin planning their senior years program. We strongly encourage all Year 10 families to attend.
MAKING THE MOST OF SCHOOL PROGRAMS:
Why not get involved in Interschool sport?
Did you know that the Australian Government recommends that teenagers and adults should try to complete 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day? This doesn’t mean running non-stop for an hour, more that the accumulated time being active across the day should amount to 60 minutes. Other than playing sport, the activity could include walking to the shops, gardening, climbing stairs or cleaning. As long as it is relatively vigorous, any activity is good for your physical and mental health.
To support our students to get enough physical activity we offer a range of interschool sport options every term. And 2026 is already shaping to be a big year at Keysborough for Interschool sport. With the Acacia and Banksia Volleyball teams winning all of the interschool competitions in Term one, the regional finals in May will hopefully lead to some of our teams getting to the State Finals.
Term 2 will also see both campuses running their Track and Field Championships – Acacia in Week 1 on Friday April 24th and Banksia in Week 2 on Friday, May 1. Winners there will then represent our school at the District Track and Field Championships in September. Shortly after that, we will have upwards of 60 students from each campus competing in the Dandenong and District Cross Country Championships. Through-out the rest of the term, we will be sending out our Badminton, Football, Netball and AFL teams to compete in the local competitions.
We realise that the students at Banksia don’t always have opportunities in their day to be active, which is why our Gymnasium is open every morning from 8am for students to play badminton, volleyball, basketball or table tennis. Along with that, we run our after-school Badminton and Volleyball programs for Year 7 and 8 on Wednesday and Thursday.
The possibilities for being active at home or in the community are far-ranging. Below are some contact numbers for a range of sporting activities but something as simple as going for a walk is of benefit. And teenagers are often more likely to open up and talk if you walk with them.

Respectful Relationships Education
Respectful Relationships is about tackling family violence through education. Just like other major social and health issues, evidence shows that family violence can be prevented by working across the whole population (in this case, all schools) to address the attitudes, beliefs and knowledge that support violence.
A good education is about more than simply getting good marks. It is about becoming a member of society and succeeding in life – knowing how to build respectful relationships is key to achieving this. When young people build positive relationships with their teachers and peers, they feel safer and happier at school, are more resilience and have positive social attitudes. Positive relationships increase a young person’s sense of social connectedness and belonging to school and family, and result in better health and academic outcomes.
Keysborough Secondary College Respectful Relationships education covers:
Year 7: Emotional literacy; Personal strengths; Coping skills and Problem solving
Year 8: Stress management; Problem solving; Gender relations and Seeking help
Year 9: Emotional literacy; Personal strengths; Gender, Respect & relationships- including consent
Year 10: Stress management; Power of connection; Gender, power & the media and Seeking help
Year 11 & 12: Safer socialising; Gender identity and respect; Positive relationships and Challenge, opportunity & personal strengths.
Further information about Respectful Relationships education is available on the Department of Education and Training website: www.education.vic.gov.au/respectfulrelationships
Teachers are also supported to deliver the initiative with age-appropriate teaching and learning materials. These evidence-based materials are designed to enable teachers to develop student’s social and emotional capabilities, build positive, healthy and respectful relationships, make responsible decisions and create positive gender relations. The initiative will also provide resources to best support young people who are affected by family violence.
