Principal's Report

Dear families,

What a frosty start that we have experienced over the past couple of mornings. Let’s hope that we witness nicer weather next week.

MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

This morning, we enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day morning, with our Muffins for Mums and an opportunity to grab a warm drink from the coffee van. Yesterday, our Foundation students welcomed their mums/nans into the STEM classroom for a special activity session, with the chance to create, connect, and celebrate together. What a beautiful celebration of Mum’s - the most important and provided roles that someone could hold.

ENROLMENTS ARE NOW OPEN

This week, and last, we have welcomed many prospective (and some existing) families into our school for Foundation 2027 tours. I have been absolutely amazed by the leadership of our Year 6 student leaders as they have led these tours with me. We have received quite a large number of applications, and I urge anyone who is looking to enrol their child in Foundation for 2027 to apply ASAP if you have not already done so.

STAFFING

If you follow our social media, you may have seen that we have commenced our recruitment process for our 2027 Deputy Principal. While we are getting ahead of the game and preparing for next year already, Mrs Antoniadis and Mrs DeAraugo will continue in the role for the remainder of 2026. Deputy Principal - Holy Rosary School, White Hills, VIC, Australia

VOLUNTEERS

This week, we have had to put an SOS out for volunteers for our Muffins for Mums and, especially, our canteen. If you are able to help out with the canteen, I ask that you contact the office or Lindy directly. If we are unable to staff the canteen, we may not be able to provide hot lunches on Friday’s without volunteer support, which could result in cancelling lunch order day at very short notice.

A special thank you to Tamara and Lindy for their ongoing support, as well as Brendan, Tyson, Jono, Laura, Hannah, Sue and Richelle for volunteering this week.

VICTORIAN INSTITUTE OF TEACHING BOARD VISIT

On Wednesday, we hosted four members from the board of the Victorian Institute of Teaching. They were very impressed by our school and took the time to sit with teachers and listen to feedback regarding teacher registration, professional learning and related issues.

COLD WEATHER AND LOST PROPERTY

This week, we have started to feel a rapid change in weather. I have noted that our ‘lost property’ stock has been depleted as a result. I ask that you please ensure that your children have adequate warm clothing for the conditions, so they are not required to search through the lost property box. If you note your child has brought home any of our lost property, could you please wash and return to school (as it may be another child’s property). Thanks in advance.

LEARNING CONVERSATIONS

Last week, we had our Term 2 Learning Conversations. This was an amazing opportunity for families, students and teachers to align goals and share progress. I thank all families for attending as well as the staff for their dedication and time.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

This week has been Teacher Appreciation Week here at the school. A week for us all to appreciate the work and care of our teachers toward the students, families and colleagues of Holy Rosary. Our amazing LSO’s have been tireless in leading the celebration. I am hopeful that (if teachers give me their approval) I can share some of the challenges/celebrations that we have had.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend, and we wish all Mum’s out there a very happy Mother's Day on Sunday.
