MAY - THE MONTH OF MARY

Gallery Image

The Catholic Church dedicates May to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of God and our spiritual mother. Mary’s life shows us what it means to follow God with humility, trust, and love. Everything she did leads us closer to Jesus, and she continues to care for each of us as a loving mother.

Mary reminds us that holiness is possible in everyday life. As Pope Francis taught: “She shows us that heaven is within reach, if we too do not give in to sin, we praise God with humility, and we serve others with generosity” (Angelus address, Solemnity of the Assumption, Aug. 15, 2022).

During this month of May, may we look to Mary’s example and ask her to guide us closer to her Son.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK

Catholic Education Week was celebrated from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May. This year’s theme, “Seek Peace and Pursue It,” invites us to build communities of kindness, respect, and hope.

Throughout the week, students engaged in prayerful activities, created a whole school display showing what peace looks like, and wrote peace pledges about how they can live peacefully within our school community. These activities reflect how peace is lived each day through learning, relationships, and service.

SANDHURST SWITCHES OFF

Gallery Image

Our school proudly took part in Sandhurst Switches Off, with all classes turning off their lights to help save energy and care for our common home. This simple action reminded students that even small choices can make a big difference. Thank you to everyone for working together to protect God’s creation.

LAUDATO SI (16TH - 24TH MAY)

Gallery Image

Laudato Si’ Week 2026 invites us to move from hope to action. Hope is not passive; it is lived and shared through daily choices, community life, prayer, and concrete acts of care. This anniversary year reminds us that ecological conversion grows step by step through relationships restored, creation protected, and communities strengthened. The next chapter of Laudato Si’ begins with us, wherever we are.

At Holy Rosary we will be participating in whole school activities throughout Laudato Si’ Week.

PRAY WITH POPE LEO XIV

This May, Pope Leo invites us to pray for people around the world who are hungry. As a school community, we are encouraged to keep those without enough food in our prayers and to think about simple ways we can share, care for others, and live with gratitude. You can pray along with Pope Leo in the video below.
