Library

As always, it has been a busy end to the term with lots of displays, book club meetings, launching our very own THS Library Instagram account and moving into our Pop Up Library while exams were happening in the actual Library!
National Reconciliation Week
To celebrate National Reconciliation Week, we showcased books across all genres by fantastic First Nations authors. Multiple students and teachers recommended Catching Teller Crow by Ambelin Kwaymullina to me, so I have added it to my massive to-read list! There were also some new titles included, Brooke Blurton’s YA book A Good Kind of Trouble and Always was always will be : the campaign for justice and recognition continues by Thomas Mayo.
Pop Up Library
While exams were in full swing in the Library, we moved to our Pop Up Library set up in Room 16! It was a very cute and cosy arrangement and it was lovely to have students and staff to pop in to visit.
Book Clubs
The THS Staff Book Club continues to thrive with two meetings occurring since the last newsletter. At the first one, we discussed the book Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green, a non-fiction book written in a narrative-like style and I also brought along a selection of books new to the collection. The second meeting was an opportunity to touch base and chat about whatever books we had on the go. This was very fun and particularly interesting as we have very different tastes in books across the group.
I also hosted our first THS Student Book Club this week which had a lovely turn out. We also discussed what we were reading at the moment and I shared a few of my favourites from the collection (as well as a few oreos!). I look forward to our next meeting and all students are welcome - no required reading!
Term 2 Reading Challenge
This is the official announcement of the winners of the Term 2 Reading Challenge.
Congratulations to:
- Lara H (1st Prize)
- Margaux R (2nd Prize)
- Aiden S (3rd Prize)
Well done to every student that got involved and we hope that it helped you to read outside your usual genres or interest areas.
Last, but certainly not least, we have launched our official THS Library Instagram account!
You can follow us @ths_library_ where you will find book recommendations, display showcases, event announcements and reflections on the importance of school libraries.
