Year 9 Drama Excursion - Suitcase Series

For the second CAT of the Year 9 Drama class, we did the Suitcase Series. Suitcase series is a performance at the Malthouse Theatre, where up to 8 schools perform to each other per day presenting pieces all linked by one central theme: Climate Change. Our performance was focussed on protest and anger and we got some strong reactions (and applause) from the audience.
Each school was only allowed one suitcase full of props/costumes for the performance. To sort out the order, there was a randomiser. Our performance was second. I think that the randomiser was much better (although definitely unexpected) because it meant that we weren't stuck thinking about our performance and freaking out and instead had time to focus, watch and really enjoy the other schools' performances.
Performing in the Suitcase Series was really fun and we all worked really well together to be able to showcase our play! The day was super enjoyable and a great experience as we got to meet (and even befriend!) new people and watch their performances. Everyone was so nice and encouraging and the day was just altogether a big success!
