YEAR 8 / INTERMEDIATE REGIONAL HOCKEY COMPETITION

Both the Year 8 and Intermediate Hockey competitions were held on wet Melbourne days. Despite this, the students remained enthusiastic and were competitive throughout the day. The Year 8 team lost one match and drew the other. The Intermediate team won two matches and lost one match, to narrowly miss advancing to the finals.

YEAR 8 BOYS REGIONAL INTERSCHOOL TABLE TENNIS COMPETITION

On Wednesday, October 18th, Somar Dhital, Rio Barrett, Kenny Poirier and Jonathan Blyth represented the school in the Year 8 Boys Regional Table Tennis competition. The boys won 2 of their 3 pool games to advance to the semi-finals, where they lost 2-4 to Highvale Secondary College.

HOUSE DODGEBALL COMPETITION

In week 2 of the term, we held our annual House Dodgeball Competition. It was fantastic to see students from all year levels taking part. The final day of the competition saw Acacia playing against Waratah for 3rd place, which ended up being a draw. And Banksia playing against Grevillea to determine the winner. This game went to extra time, with Banksia claiming a narrow win and also the title of 2023 House Dodgeball Champions.

RESULTS:

1. Banksia

2. Grevillea

3. Acacia

3. Waratah

YEAR 8 EASTERN METROPOLITAN REGION TENNIS COMPETITION

On Wednesday, November 1st, Sher Sidhu, Kenny Poirier, Rio Barrett and Charles Trinh competed in the Year 8 Regional Tennis competition. We started the day strongly, winning our first match 6-0 against Lilydale High School. In our second match, we came up against a very strong Rowville Secondary College and lost 6-0. Our third match against Kew High School was a very tight contest, and at the conclusion, both schools couldn't be separated on sets and games won - finishing in a tie. All four boys did a fantastic job on the day, and also to reach the regional competition.

EMR YEAR 8 GIRLS SOFTBALL

Our Year 8 and 7 girls made there way to Knox Baseball/ Softball diamond to compete for the regional pennant. The girls were ready and excited especially after their batting session the day before. Unfortunately, they were unable to win against some really strong sides like Vermont and Balwyn. Our best game, the first game showed what the girls were capable as we fought hard against East Doncaster only to lose against them by a couple of runs.

Hopefully the girls continue to play softball next year for interschool sports.
